  • What would it take ...
     OP - December 17, 2009, 03:22 PM

to prove to you that God exists?

I'm wondering what those have in mind, when they say they haven't seen any evidence for a God. That there is no proof that a God exists.

    - What kind of proof/evidence are you exactly looking for?

    - What will make you believe in a God?

For those who understand, no explanation is necessary. For those who refuse to understand, no explanation is possible.

A bona fide miracle, attested to by peer review that there is no natural explanation for it.  Or failing that, God could always send me a quick e-mail.

And honest face to face chat to him/her/it/them would be nice for a start.

God's existence isn't that important; what I'd like is someone to prove to me that the Qur'an is the literal word of God.

I think the problem with this question is which god are we talking about? The real problem with God is the concept himself. It's an incoherent idea that really makes little sense when you think about it. It's like asking me "what will it take to prove green is black?". I don't even know what the question is asking to begin with, so how can I answer that?

Can't answer this till there's an explanation.. which god exactly? There are so many in human mythologies, it's hard to keep track.

But listen all of you kuffar!! The holy Qur'an challenges mankind to bring a surah like it! If Qur'an is from man, howcome nobody brought a surah like it?! This is the proof of Allah (swt)!! Cheesy

Yep, we have polytheism, monotheism, deism, pantheism and a whole host of other ism's and theologies that are mutually incoherent. There really isn't a cohesive definition of what the believer is talking about. Even I, as an ex-muslim think of the definition of Allah as God and not Yahweh or Ahura mazda.

I'd need Freya and Thor and the rest of them to knock on my door with some fiskepudding, gravlax, meatballs with loganberry jam, and maybe some kn?ck, sit down and have a meal with me while telling me why it's totally logical to believe in aesir, vanir, alfar (elves), sprites, hidden folk, sei?r (witchcraft), and trolls and explaining why it has been made so that there is no clear scientific evidence of any of this shit (other than the loganberry jam).

Got her consent to use it for a YouTube video  Afro

    Ive made a few modifications, this is how it stands at the moment;

    Surat al Man-Made@Noon

    1.    Verily, this book is unlike any other
    2.    A clear message for those willing to believe.
    3.    And have we not told you the story of Khidr?
    4.    Verily, he was wise and Luqman and Bulayman as well.
    5.    O Prophet!  Tell your women to stay in the homes
    6.    For verily, it is better for them, if only they knew.
    7.    And that they should not create undue attention
    8.    with laughter and talk.
    9.    And what is like the stars? Shall I strike you a similitude?
    10.    For the stars are the signs of my mercy and greatness,
    11.    and they bow to me in worship
    12.    but remember if her husband dies without issue then half his estate goes to his brothers
    13.    and her testimony is equal to that of half a man
    14.    For you shall have fear of the lord and remember well
    15.    his benevolence.  For verily, Allah is all knowing, and all seeing.
    16.    And those who have patience and who fast gave in to the way of the lord,
    17.    verily, they shall eat grapes on reclining chairs for ever and ever.
    18.    But those whose hearts Allah he hath sealed,
    19.    verily, their faces shall be darkened by molten lead and shall
    20.    drink boiling sulphur as an everlasting torment, though they cry
    21.    'Our lord!  We would have believed if you had shown us evidence!'
    22.    But verily, I did show them but it's too late for them now.
    23.    Lo, did I not present them with this passage which is clear?

    Hmm... Let's see.

I think I would need to see some serious evidence from the time of Mo. I mean proper archeological evidence that he existed along with the sahabah and the Quran from the first century as it's recited today. Everything we have today is incoherent and doubtful. This is just the start.

That would be one of the benchmark tests. It's just a pipedream though. Unless there is a coup and a secular regime change.

    To answer those who asked which God I'm speaking of in the question;

    The Abrahamic conceptions of God.

Or if we dig up his grave, as some claim, that his body is still perfect and has not decayed..

It's from Hadith, which states - "Allah has prohibited earth
to cause the body of prophets to decay."

For those who understand, no explanation is necessary. For those who refuse to understand, no explanation is possible.
