  • The houses of the Thamud people?
     OP - December 17, 2009, 11:35 PM

Did you guys ever see the remains of the Thamud? the doorways of the homes do not look that big. maybe 10 feet tall max. I seriously doubt super human giants lived there. What do you guys think?

Ye super human giants didn't live there.

Going off topic, that's Fedor in your avatar right?
    I'm an mma fan too.

And after that, can someone explain to me why people dont die in the ring in MMA.  Its cage fighting right?  Ive seen powerful men repeatedly throwing punches and kneeing their opponents in the face, how do they stay alive and avoid irreversible damage after a few bludgeonings, let alone round after round, fight after fight..

Also those that enjoy watching it, dont you find it distressing, like watching someone being stoned or being tortured?

Well there are rules in MMA. Comparing it too being stoned is way off point . But as soon as the opponent is hurt and can not intelligently defend himself the bout is over. However if you have issues with MMA then I'm guessing boxing is not one you like either? Professional Wrestling in fact can be just as brutal if not more. The people that compete in MMA are really more of athletes than just people who just think they can kick anyone's ass.

Personal taste I guess, but do u think this says somehting about me as a person, am I bad for enjoying a fight from time to time?

But its difficult to guage, Ive seen someone landing about 20 full punches to the face is less that 10 seconds

Wrestling is staged, and in boxing people where thick gloves, so its not as disturbing.  There is no elbow or kneebone thrust into your nose, or eye socket type of contact allowed?  Like I said how is irreversible damages, unconsciouslness, death avoided in these fights?

    Am I missing something here?

As far as I know there has only been one reported death in MMA in the ring. Unconsciousness is frequent when people get knocked out. There are never any gaurantees the gloves in MMA are small so if a solid shot connects on the chin its usually lights out for that person. Well I for one oculd never do that 4 a living, it could very well cause irreversible brain damage particularly if the fighter is known to be a striker/slugger who just likes to trade punches rather than a grappler.  The referee also needs to monitor the fighters' safety and always act on the side of caution when he believes the fighter is taking too much punishment. If u want to know more than I suggest u either watch a few MMA fights on the net (if u can stomach it) or just research the topic. There is still a lot of controversy regarding the sport even though its the fastest growing sport in the world now.

As much as I love MMA, I think we should stick to topic.

The Thamud were people around 15 generations after Adam, I don't remember the exact number. But they were a people who disobeyed Allah, and a prophet named Salih came to sort out the trouble. One of his miracles was about the she-camel coming out of a boulder and they were also giant humans. Allah sent a dark cloud to the Thamud, the believers were saved and disbelievers, were destroyed. This was shortly after the events of Hud dealing with the Ad people.

Archaelogical evidence for this? I'm actually completely ignorant of this topic.

Some Muslims will point out the houses of the Thamud.
