  • Help a murtad
     OP - December 19, 2009, 02:00 AM

I was recently discussing Islam with a very knowledgeable Muslim man. I can remember Reading on this forum that the story about the old woman who used to throw rubbish on Mo and then she didn't one day and mo went around to check on her, you know the one. Anyway I read here that there is no evidence for that story and that it has been falsely attributed to Mo. But this guy told me it's in the Quran and even quoted the verse. I looked like a right plonker (I do anyway)

    Can anyone advise

Take the Pakman challenge and convince me there is a God and Mo was not a murdering, power hungry sex maniac.

I'm sure it's not in the Qur'an. What exactly did he recite to you? Did he mention chapter and verse numbers?

    It's 100% not in the Qu'ran.

Apart from it being a famous story, it's authenticity can be questioned. Whether it was fabricated or not, I don't know.

That verse is not in the Quran. He lied to you about the verse number, which some people do, maybe because they don't think you'll call their bluff on it. I believe the story is said to be a hadith, but it actually comes from the Bahai faith.

Tell the "knowledgeable" muslim that he is a fucking tool. Last time I checked, there is not a single verse in the Qur'an which talks about garbage and filth being thrown on top of Muhammad.

He pulled a Zakir Naik on you.

Didn't the quraysh throw guts on Mo while he praying at the ka'ba tho right?

I chose to get circumcised at 17, don't tell me I never believed.

And of course such an event will be passed down in Islam as an example of Muhammads perfect knowledge of knowing what will happen in the future.

But this guy is really sincere peeps, he believed what he said. He quoted something in Arabic and then translated it. The verse he qouted doesn't narrate the whole story but refers to it. Has anyone heard of that verse.

I would have treated the vrse with suspicion from the beginning as the Quran tends to stick to rules rather than stories of events - thats what the hadith are for.

Did you not check his verse against an online Quran?

Are you sure he is even referring to a Qu'ranic verse? That the quote in Arabic is a verse at all? It could possibly be something else he is talking about, unless of course he stated the verse/chapter number..etc

Nope, nothing as such in that Surah, and in the entire Qu'ran.
