  • "the prophet of the sword" documentary.. we need help
     OP - October 16, 2009, 10:38 AM

    Hello all..
We in the Arab atheists network are working on a documentary film named: "the prophet of the sword".
The film features the violent history of Muhammed and his bloody teachings and how they affected our world today.
The film in the first place addresses the westerners, so it will be in English commentary voice and with Arabic subtitle, and many pages displayed will be from English sources (ie. The English translation of Sahih Al-Bukhari, Sahih muslim..etc).
So it will be far better if the commentary voice is read by a native English speaker instead of a commentator with Arabic accent.
Anyone here likes to volunteer to record the script of the film?
If you have an excellent American or English accent it would be enough. Smiley
The 45 minutes Film will be included in the 2009 atheists convention's DVDs as promised by the president of the convention.

    Best regards
    Arab Atheists Network

Sounds very interesting. I've done voiceovers before for radio and web videos, as well I have acting experience. Speak fluent N American English. I'd like to find out a little more about the script, the time frame etc., if you're interested, just send me a PM here. Smiley

    thank you Allat..
but I am afraid that for this topic - which is full of blood and swords-, a female voice is inappropriate.
but your voice is very needed for another film.
back in march we produced the "story of women in Islam":

but now we are willing to reproduce a summarized version of it with English commentary voice.
    do you accept the job?
you have 1 week to finish the job.. a job that needs only half an hour.
here is the script of the film:

if you accept, then for a test send me a recording of the first two lines of the script. after that I will send you a recording of the Arabic words in the script so that you learn the right pronouncaition, words such as scholars names.
    Best regards.

Gotcha. Where should I be emailing the sample recording?

Sounds interesting, I would have volunteered but I am an Arab like you, so my accent wouldn't be really good.
I am thinking Hassan will do a good job in this. Besides English, he fully understands Arabic too, which would make things a lot easier too in terms of translating and communicating with other Arab members. But I guess it's up to him to agree or not.

You obviously don't know Allat. She can do blood and swords when she's in the mood.  Cheesy

Anyway Hassan would be good for a voiceover if he will do it. His English and Arabic are flawless.

Yeah Hassan is a star already, if you seen his videos on YouTube you will have known the good qualities of his voice. Due to the hatred that many Arabs hold against America (for obvious political reasons) maybe an English accent like Hassan's would be more effective. I hope Hassan agrees.  Afro

Or perhaps u need a voice with a flaw. My English is good but has a hint of arabic/french to it and was asked few times to work a 900-number lines for women  piggy . Maybe my voice-over will work the female audience.

"Ask the slave girl; she will tell you the truth.' So the Apostle called Burayra to ask her. Ali got up and gave her a violent beating first, saying, 'Tell the Apostle the truth.'"
