Sorry, no English language article available so far, but this story is great.
A few weeks back there was a discussion in the German parliament on whether the German constitution should be amended with a clause that would protect queers (homosexuals, bisexuals, transsexuals and intersexuals) from discrimination.
It didn't go through because the ruling parties (the Christian Democrats and the Liberals (bound by coalition agreements)) opposed the proposal.
One of the reasons given by one "expert" for the Christian Democrats was that such a step would hinder the integration of Muslims into German society. He argued that "Muslims cannot support the constitution when they know the constitution protects homosexuals".
As a reaction, the general secretary of the "Central Council of Muslims in Germany" (himself a member of the Liberal party) has now registered himself as a supporter of the amendment to the constitution.
