What do you know anyway? You don't even have FB, you can't make generalised statements!

Here is a fact: Friends arrange parties on FB. yes There, now you have learned something new from your younger, wiser, female friend. We could be friends on FB too if you had an FB account. Angry

Friends arrange parties via phone too. Shit, they might even talk face to face (without the book bit). Tongue

Phone? :/ No. That's not the way it works.

Here are all the useful (non time wasting) aspects of my FB account (which Godot and Tmp, being younger than 40, ought to have too!!):

    1. Several groups related to my courses, e.g. a Biology group which I am constantly bombarding with questions

    2. Planning parties

    3. When I lose my phone (which I never use anyway): contacting people

    4. Access to info about my extracurricular/clubs activities

    5. Stuff that the school posts, e.g. stuff about prom, graduation, yearbook, etc

SO YOU SEE! It's a useful resource. If I had a 'real' job, it'd be even more useful yes

I've got no "faces" to "book". Tongue

You don't have friends & family?!

K I'm a strong advocate of people having FB accounts. I'm gonna force you and Tmp (maybe--I don't know him that well so maybe that might come across as intrusive) to make one!!!!!!

SO MAKE ONE! dance Then I'll spam your wall so that you appear to be popular

I see my immediate family in person every single day - that's already more than enough. My extended family nauseates me to such a degree that the less I communicate with them, the better it is for my health. As for friends, I don't have any in real life, and I can already communicate with the ones I've made online just fine, so I really don't see the need for a Facebook account.

Ohh. Why does your extended family nauseate you?

And :( :( but you'll make friends at work so then you'll need an FB account. yes Do the wise thing, make one now! Tongue

This reminds me of this speech by Erich Schmidt, former Google CEO:
"Take your eyes off that screen and look into the eyes of the person that you love. Have a conversation--a real conversation with the friends who  make you think, with the family who make you laugh. Don't push a button saying I like something, actually tell them! What a concept!

Engage in the world around you and feel, taste, and smell and hug what's right there right in front of you, not what's a click away. Life is not lived in the glow of monitor. Life is not a series of status updates. Life is not about your friend count, it's the friends who you can actually count on. Right? So life is about who you love, how you live, it's about who you travel with through the world. Your family, your collaborators, your friends. Life is a social experience first, and the best aspects of that experience are not lonely ones, they're spent in the company of others. Our modern landscape has changed yes-- but our humanity will always remain, and that, above all else, is what makes us who we are."

What sort of top-secret info do you have anyway that some corporations can't know about? It's not like they couldn't find out your name, birthday, friends etc through other routes.
