This reminds me of this speech by Erich Schmidt, former Google CEO:
"Take your eyes off that screen and look into the eyes of the person that you love. Have a conversation--a real conversation with the friends who  make you think, with the family who make you laugh. Don't push a button saying I like something, actually tell them! What a concept!

Engage in the world around you and feel, taste, and smell and hug what's right there right in front of you, not what's a click away. Life is not lived in the glow of monitor. Life is not a series of status updates. Life is not about your friend count, it's the friends who you can actually count on. Right? So life is about who you love, how you live, it's about who you travel with through the world. Your family, your collaborators, your friends. Life is a social experience first, and the best aspects of that experience are not lonely ones, they're spent in the company of others. Our modern landscape has changed yes-- but our humanity will always remain, and that, above all else, is what makes us who we are."

It's not mutually exclusive. Plus, who cares about friend count? I don't care about it. People with low self-esteem rely on FB for their daily dose of confidence.

What's good about FB is that I can stalk people yes

Don't be sorry. You bring a hell of a lot of positivity and optimism to what is largely a miserable forum. Don't ever change. Smiley

You're right, by the way - I probably will have to get an account at some point to placate an overzealous friend or colleague, but I plan to hold out as long as possible. If I ever do get one, you'll be among the first people I add. Afro

Hahaha Tongue change is bad, just remember that!

Phone? :/ No. That's not the way it works.

Here are all the useful (non time wasting) aspects of my FB account (which Godot and Tmp, being younger than 40, ought to have too!!):

    1. Several groups related to my courses, e.g. a Biology group which I am constantly bombarding with questions

    2. Planning parties

    3. When I lose my phone (which I never use anyway): contacting people

    4. Access to info about my extracurricular/clubs activities

    5. Stuff that the school posts, e.g. stuff about prom, graduation, yearbook, etc

SO YOU SEE! It's a useful resource. If I had a 'real' job, it'd be even more useful yes

I'm backing chepea up on this one.  (and I'm old lol)

I always want to get rid of fb but it's just too handly for those sort of things.

That's how I arranged the cemb bbq, which was awesome because I loathe talking on the phone.  Grin

    Os:

    (Clicky for piccy!)

(I just googled "Facebook Hater" and this came up, and I think it's fitting cuz it's some old white guy...)

I just Googled "facebook fangirl". Cheesy
