    Does your daughter happen to have an autistic spectrum disorder, Hass?

    These days that's what a lot of people, including my parents, brother and several neighbors who knew me growing up believe I have.  This would explain the baffled look I have in that photo.  As I remember I spent much of my childhood in utter confusion at the stupidity of grown-ups.

    Muslims always try to dehumanise Hell. I mean they keep trying to claim it will only be inhabited by evil nasty child-molesting mass murdering monsters. Hell appears to only contain Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Pol Pot, The Yorkshire Ripper and a handful of other bogey-men who no-one can have a problem see burn!

    Well that's the bullshit that makes them feel better.

    But this is the reality of the Hell described in the Qur'an!

    Yeah, I've developed several coping mechanisms over the years but when I was little I had a lot of difficulties and got bullied a lot because I was 'different' to the other kids.  Many, many phone conversations with my parents over the years has disclosed a lot of stuff about my childhood which I was totally unaware of but makes perfect sense to me now.

    Hmm... sound very much like my ex and Safa's mum and in a few cases Safa also.

    Have you been professionally diagnosed? I don't mean any offense, but it's quite easy to convince yourself you have a certain condition, which you may indeed have, but I'd recommend a proper diagnosis to be sure. It'll help you understand yourself a little better.

    I mean how else could you objectively measure these things, as we all have an element of them.  And if you are diagnosed, then there may be some things you could do that would help.

    Not had a proper diagnosis yet.  Looking into it but as I am moving abroad in a couple of months that will make getting a diagnosis a bit difficult.  My dad was the first person to mention it to me, then my brother who has worked with kids with varying degrees of autism, then my mom who has mentioned that some of our family friends have noticed certain aspects of my personality which could be related to autism.  Also my stepmom who is an RN, according to my father the first time she met me when I was around the age I was in that photo above mentioned autism right off the bat.

    I spent my early school years in a special education program which the State of Oregon put me in due to my early childhood learning difficulties, i.e.e speech impediments, difficulties socializing, etc.  Also, I have obsessive interests in certain things, like collecting stuff or reading every piece of literature I can get my hands on on certain subjects.

    I much definitely prefer a night in with a good book to a night at the pub which is why I don't go out often as I find it boring as hell unless I'm super high.
