I personally hate Hezbollah. I hate the concept of Pan-Islamism more than anything.
Anecdote: I was in Beirut in the summer of 06 literally days before the war and the funny thing is our Christian Taxi Driver had a picture of Nasrallah in his car. When I asked him he said "he's the only guy not willing to sacrifice our dignity".
Well, that's kinda the thing, isn't it? They were willing and able to stand up to the biggest military power in the region that was controlling half the country and had invaded before, and no one else was. They kicked out the IDF, it's impressive, and I imagine for a lot of Lebanese pretty damn heroic.
Yeah, they're Islamists, therefore bad, but ideological distinctions like that often get lost in such conflicts, and, in practice, Hizbollah acts as a secular organization and is willing to work with any and all religions, sects, and political organizations, so it's probably easy for the average Lebanese to forget what they're really all about.
