I stopped fasting back when I still considered myself muslim. I sure as hell am not fasting now. The taraweehs are a problem though, because everyone expect you to comply to them

It's going to be my first Ramadan as an apostate, and yet I'll have to fast. Sucks when you're studying abroad with a family member and so have to keep up appearances.  finmad

I'll be fasting, yeah. I guess I could eat while no one is watching, but... I don't know. It kinda ruins the whole thing. I like fasting because I can enjoy the delicious food better.

Yeah, you do appricate food more when you've been starving all day, even the stuff you're not so fussed on can taste good lol.

Truefax. Food tastes amazing when you're starving. Grin

I'll force myself to eat when no one's watching (force myself, lol. I hate what Islam's done to me). It'll be the first time I rebel against Islamic doctrine, albeit secretly. Removing my hijab will hopefully be the next step.

Yeah, I love how 'scholars' stress the fact that it's so beneficial for your health and how you lose weight. You don't lose weight. I have a tendency to gain some during Ramadan.

most people i know gain weight during the Ramadan, since they eat very much during the Iftar (breaking of the feast)... Anyway to those who can't just ignore relatives, friends and society. keep some small snack Bars like Snickers, Mars , drink water in the toilet, get out of your home for as long as possible as away as possible in order to enjoy some food and water...

hope the Ramadan does not piss you off very much this time...

Ramadan has a very positive aspect in my life. We get to work two hours less than usual  dance Also, it's the only time of the year when I can concentrate on learning how to cook, and I enjoy that very much.

Pity the eskimo or northern Scandinavians who convert and fast during the 24 hours of sunshine summer days.

Never thought of that. Would Muslims there really be expected to fast for 6 months? And if Ramadhan is in winter for them, do they not have to fast at all? That's kinda funny lol.

I think it's because when you fast for the day, and eat afterwards your body thinks there's a lack of food around so starts storing more as fat or I'm talking out my ass, but I'm sure I heard that somewhere

I used to like that too sometimes, but then i guess it got annoying because the religious aspect to it would come to mind and I've had enough of islam.

This is normally nice after everyone has done the maghrib prayers (in my family thy eat dates then pray, and then have the feast).

Although we have a downside too as hungry people tend to be erratic and angry and so a lot of the meal times, someone got upset.

OK we'll skip the fasting, just have dinner when we're all really hungry Grin

I just told my colleauges at work that I'm not a muslim anymore, I did it cause I was getting pissed of at all the muslim jokes. I mean motherfucker I eat pork, you've seen me eat pork how can I still be a muslim? Which is not a great argument I know but still..

It feels so weird. Oh yeah and they asked me if I will fast I said no.

I just wow, I mean my whole life this has been my identity and this is the first time I came out to anybody who is not a friend or an ex-muslim. I almost feel lost in a way.

You know what it seems like? your work collegues arn't accepting of you, just the way you are, regardless of your faith.

Alot of people think once you're born into some faith, that's it, that person must always be that, regardless if they say they've left the religion that's the way they'll always see you as 'one of them' rather than just another person, like wtf does what your background faith have to do with anything else grgrrrraggggg, this is who you are right now and that should matter. Those people annoy me.

And you shouldn't have to 'prove' yourself to them, but that's the only way it seems it'll get into some thick skulls. You can be an atheist or agnostic and not have pork, and not like drinking or porn etc it's your choice....*angry face*

A lot of people think of religion as in your blood, like race. My sister knows that me and Ferrero left Islam (or at least I told her) but once when she was asking about Ferrero's background she still asked her "so are you Muslim?" I think she was trying to ask "so are you from a Muslim background?" Obviously most of us here would answer yes to the 2nd question but a definite NO to the 1st lol.

actually that's true being an atheist shouldn't mean anything.. but i guess its not easy for them since i have been religious around them and haven't really said what my views are now Smiley it doesn't really matter, i guess I'm still in early phase of apostasy

yeah i know i was having this argument too

religion is like a political affiliation, you leave it, and that's that.. its not a cultural thing, or an ethnicity etc

it would piss me off to call me a muslim now because my parents are muslims, or because i was a muslim, this is of course unless i tell you i'm not a muslim, i understand if somebody thinks i am a muslim because of how i look and my name etc

but if i tell them i'm not a muslim they should accept that, since its a religion and not my race

Yeah I was kinda pissed off at my sister for not understanding lol. Can't explain why. It should have been blindingly obvious to her, by then, how leaving Islam was such a huge event in both mine and Ferrero's life.
