Its probably because this forum is a little more personal , & that people choose to divulge their innermost thoughts here, sometimes thoughts that they have not shared with anybody else.

That's right - and I for one feel very uncomfortable sharing my personal stuff with others who are happy to read it - but don't reciprocate - at the very least give a brief intro to who they are and where they are coming from so we can get a handle on them.

I would think that it's understandable how some might be uncomfortable to divulge such 'personal stuff'. If one (who is not intent on "reciprocating") should happen to come by other people's stories, or even be interested in them, I don't see what would be wrong with doing so since the assumption is that they've been published in public space for anyone to read, even non-members. A 'thank you for sharing that' is required, but not necessarily a reciprocation.

Still, I've come to understand the courtesy of an intro thread in such a community during my stay here.
