WOW i just burst out laughing when i read this. silly women that fall for these dumb ass groups.

As you will see this women just wanted to follow the "sunnah"    Roll Eyes

    Women 1:

    Asalaam O Alaykum,

I usually dont use miswaak, I'm more of a toothbrush-toothpaste kinda person.
But I was wondering, can we put toothpaste on our miswaak and brush our teeth or would that ruin the benefit of the miswaak itself?

    JazakAllah Khairun

    Women 2:

    Wa alaikum salam,

Did you ever try Miswak toothpaste

    Women 1:

Yes, I have actually, but my question is using the miswaak like a toothbrush with regular toothpaste, does that count?

    Women 2:

Weeellllllll I don't know about that... But what I do know is that if we use a toothbrush:

    1) and ditched them 4 times a year, over 125 million of them would be trashed annually in Canada

    2) even if we changed them half as often, we'd still be scapping 75 million of the petroleum sticks every year

    3) there is 0% recyclable content in them

    (Source: Ecoholic, By Adria Vasil)

......soooo whatever you do, toothpaste or no toothpaste... miswak is better! since it can decompose!!! no unecessary waste inshAllah.

But I'm curious about using toothpaste on a miswak... I think the necessary "paste" comes out from the miswak once you chew it and soften it and brush your teeth with it right?

    Women 3:

A/A I WAS READING THIS COMMENT IWANT TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE.I ALWAYS HAD PROBLEM WITH MY TEETH ALTHOUGH I AM VERY CONCIOUS ABOUT THE HYGIENE ALWAYS COLLECT THE LATEST KIND OF BRUSHES,AND CANT SLEEP IF I DONT BRUSH MY TEETH.BUT SINCE I HAVE STARTED USING THE MISWAK MY PROBLEM HAS GONE.I USUALLY USE ZAITOON MISWAK IT IS SOFT AND EASY TO USE.WASSALAM

Wow subhanallah !! Allah is also environmentally friendly according to the 2nd replay by women #2.

Actually, it seems true that the miswak is better than toothbrush-toothpaste for killing bacteria.

    Quote
Although the 70 supposed benefits of Miswak range widely, the main one we are examining is its effect on oral health. So, let’s throw some light on scientific studies conducted on Miswak.

The Wrigley Company made a study on Miswak which was published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. The study found that mints laced with Miswak extract were 20 times more effective in killing bacteria than ordinary mints. A small testimony to this fact is that after half an hour, the mints laced with Miswak extract killed about 60% of the bacteria where as the ordinary mints managed only 3.6%

In the August issue of Journal of Periodontology (2008) appeared a study conducted by Swedish researchers on Miswak. The study apparently found that suspended Miswak pieces in a petridish (medium for culturing bacteria) were able to kill bacteria that cause periodontal disease with out being in physical contact with the bacteria. The researchers suggested that Miswak might be giving antibiotics as gases trying to explain this phenomenon.

A study which compares toothbrushing and using Miswak (Miswak ing!) can be seen on Pubmed (U.S National Library for Medicine Service). The study concluded that Miswak was more effective than toothbrushing in reducing plaque and gingivitis provided it was used correctly. Similar studies found on the same website and elsewhere vouch for the effectiveness of Miswak over toothbrush.

A study conducted by a group of dentists at King Saud University concluded that using Miswak was at least as good as tooth brushing, if not better. There have been plenty of published studies on Miswak and infact entire books published which study its oral and systemic benefits.

Now, with all those studies chucked at you, you couldn’t help but wonder why it is so effective. This can be attributed to its strong antibacterial properties. Another important aspect to consider is that its bristles are parallel to the handle rather than perpendicular which means effective cleaning between the teeth. Now, that’s one natural toothbrush cum toothpaste cum floss.

miswak is sadly limited by its range within the mouth. the toothbrush can get in more places.

While the conversation was quite ridiculous and silly, I found the points about the environment rather good.

Anyways, I don't really mind Miswaks. Some people don't like their taste, but I don't mind them really.

Good idea.  I'm a firm believer in using humour as part of our arsenal against Islam.  Nobody likes to be laughed at.  They can cope with anti-Islam books, but being laughed at about ridiculously trivial fatwas or discussions about sunnah is likely to get under their skin.  There are many Islamic forums or fatwa websites, so there are plenty of silly little things that we will find.

O shit Plucking of the eyebrows is a sin! shit. many muslim women are hairy as it is why stop them from removing some hair ?!??!?! I guess Allah knows best.  Roll Eyes

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Asalamu Alaykum Wa rahmatallah,

    Did You Know...

'Abdullah bin Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet (saw) said:

'Allah had cursed those women who tattoo and who have themselves tattooed, those who pluck hair from their faces (plucking and shaping eyebrows) and those who make spaces between their teeth for beautification, changing what Allah has created.'

This news reached a woman of the tribe of Asad who was called Umm Ya'qub and she used to recite the Holy Qur'an. She came to him and said: What is this news that has reached me from you that you curse those women who tattoo and those women who have themselves tattooed, the women who pluck hair from their faces and who make spaces between their teeth for beautification changing what Allah has created? Thereupon 'Abdullah said: Should I not curse one upon whom Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) has invoked curse and that is in the Book also. Thereupon that woman said: I read the Qur'an from cover to cover, but I did not find that in it, whereupon he said: If you had read (thoroughly) you would have definitely found this in that (as) Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, has said: And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it) That woman said: I find this thing in your wife even now. Thereupon he said: Go and see her. She reported: I went to the wife of 'Abdullah but found nothing of this sort in her. She came back to him and said: I have not seen anything, whereupon he said: Had there been anything like it in her, I would have never slept with her in bed. [Sahih Muslim: 3966]

We learn from the above hadith that plucking and shaping of the eyebrow is not permissible though this practice is very common amongst muslim women (and believe it or not, men as well!) The important thing to note here is that following Rasool Allah is NOT an option. We must follow his (saw) teachings as Allah has commanded us to do so in the above verse.

It is not always easy to stay away from that which your heart desires. Shaytaan puts love in our hearts for such futile things. He deceives us into believing that the sayings of our Rasool are insignificant. However, as long as we remember the verse below, it will give us all the motivation to follow our beloved Prophet(saw) and carry out his sunnah in the best of ways.

“Say (O Muhammad) : If you love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful [Al-Imran : 35]

It's sunnah to drink whilst sitting:

    Quote
What is the importance of drinking water in sitting position?.

    Praise be to Allaah.

It is permissible to drink both sitting and standing, although drinking whilst sitting is better, and it is what the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) did most often. This has been discussed in the answer to question number 21147.

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said, explaining the negative effect of drinking whilst standing and the importance of drinking whilst sitting:

Drinking whilst standing has numerous negative effects, one of which is that it does not fully quench the thirst and does not settle in the stomach so that the liver can distribute the nutrients to other parts of the body. Rather it comes to the stomach with speed and force, and there is the fear that it will cause a chill or disturbance, and may pass quickly to the lower parts of the body without moving gradually. All of that is harmful to the drinker, but if he does it occasionally or in the case of need, it will not harm him... End quote from Zaad al-Ma‘aad, 4/229.

I love how people try and shoehorn environmental messages into Islam, reminds me of an issue of the "progressive" Islamic lifestyle magazine Emel doing a cover story on "Eco Jihad".  Cheesy

I love how Woman #2 did all that research regarding the toothbrush stuff. I think the "0 per cent recyclable content" statement is disputable as per some research I have done. Toothbrush bristles are, indeed, recyclable. A+ for effort.

Woman #3 just needs to chill the feck out.
