I'm afraid its a red card because the goalie infringed on a clear goal scoring oppurtunity.

Luis Suarez made a meal of that challenge from the SAfrican keeper....and since the ref blew the whistle for the foul, he HAD to take action I'm afraid.

A professional foul (denying a clear goal scoring opportunity by fouling as the last defender/goalkeeper) is an automatic red card.

I feel for you, Abuyunus. Our managemend installed a bigass flat screen tv and satellite reception in the sales open space but whenever lunch break is over and we still want to finish watching a game we get evil looks :S Corporate assholes.

You know what would make this thread more exciting? Bets: that's right, haram bets and money paid via PayPal. It would be a good test of one's statistics  Afro So far I have won an ice cream (which I down graded from a lunch meal as gentlman since I knew Slovakia were not going wto with 3 goals ahead) and I have lost a meal, I betted Honduras Vs  Chile game would end in anything but 0:1 thought to be honest I spent more time chatting at lunch than watching the first half so it was a risky bet to take.

Apart from retired Zidane, are there any more non-Muslim-popular-nations who have Muslim players? Just interested to see if there is any type of link (like there is with boxing & Muslims, a little bit like Tyson, Eubank).

France's Nicolas Anelka is also a convert as is Eric Abidal - both of whom played today against Mexico. Frederic Kanoute used to play for the French youth teams but chose to represent Mali and is also a convert to Islam. Germany has new star Mesut Ozil who is quite a devout Muslim from a Turkish background.

    Whatr about Sami Khedira ?

BTW, I don't think Zidane is a practicing Muslim. He's married to a non-Muslim lady and I've heard that he was into wine tasting. But I could be mistaken about the second part.

^^^ You're right about him being married to a non-muslim. Apparently, Messi is a convert to Islam too but is keeping it on the hush - it's more speculation than truth at the moment.

I haven't forgiven them for letting the Italians win the last world cup... Was quite glad that Mexico gave them two...

    lol source please

i'll believe that when he does a sajdaa after scoring a goal AND saying the shahada while accepting the golden ball

Zidane motivated France in the last world cup even though he was passed his prime, he was the star player of the tournament up until the infamous headbutt but now France are lacklustre without him and the coach doesn't seem to give two shits.

lol i dno, google it. I said it's more speculation than anything else but one of my Muslim friends was going on about it on Facebook. I couldn't care less to be honest as long as he doesn't start praying on the pitch during the match.

no, Messi is defo a christian - he always 'crosses himself' (i don't know the correct term) after scoring for barcelona in la liga.
