I think Klose was suspended for one match, so he should be able to play in the round of 16.

Germany makes me piss my pants.
I don't think I can watch. Too scary. Too many memories, flashbacks. Plus Klinsmann is a commentator on ESPN which is the only channel I got that will show the game. It's all too much.
I can't risk having to sit through another penalty kick ending.

I'm so sad Italy are out, they've always been my unoffical team since 94. :(

Can't even get behind England because their world cup ends on sunday...

Yeah, I've always liked Italy too.

The limeys are playin the krauts, right? I'll definitely be backing England then until they meet up with USA again or USA loses against Ghana. If Ghana wins, I'll back them. But as much as I tease the limeys here, I've always liked England's national soccer team, going back to the 90s, when I actually followed the sport somewhat and played it. And fuck Germany.

EDIT: Also backing Mexico. If it can't be the US, that's actually my second choice. Still, I'll back England and Ghana if the US loses as long as they aren't going up against Mexico.

    fuck you

Oh, I'm well aware of that. That's kinda why I like England-- they practically invented the game, have some very good players, but are always underdogs (or have been in my lifetime). You're talkin to someone who was a Boston Red Sox fan ages before they finally won the World Series again, and if the Red Sox could come back to take 4 games in a row, from 3 games down against the Yankees in the ALCS, England can beat the krauts.

    fuck you

It's been a really exciting world cup for the Americans. First drawing with England, then drawing with Slovenia after being 2 - 0 down (although their 3rd goal should have been allowed imo), and then a literally last minute goal in their final group match that gave them a boost from 3rd place to top place in Group C. Before the world cup, I was thinking, bloody yanks, we'll teach em how to play football, but I actually have a lot of respect for em now and I'm really happy they got through Smiley

The unlived life is not worth examining.

Interesting article on the Guardian today:

The German team is no longer the team it was seen to be for years," he says. "It now has lots of younger players, a very strong generation that is in the process of maturing."

It also has a higher number of players from diverse ethnic backgrounds than at any time in the country's sporting history. Around half of the players are either born abroad, have parents who were born abroad or have one non-German parent.

I really hope Germany floor England!! However, I understand the Germans are the underdogs statistically ... possible win for England ... unless it gets to penalites haha!!

PS: I'm perhaps a bit socially dyslexic but consider this: the average English tennis fan (imo) worships Nadal and Feder to bloomin' Murray!! And not just because he is Scottish, it was the same with Henman: media hype them up (e.g. Henmania) only to be shot down. Same with lousy England.
