    Dude.

I said prayer is used to keep us focused for our afterlife goals and for our lesser earthly goals.  Why are you just skimming my posts like that?  They aren't that long.

so what will you do with the 72 virgins you get in heaven?  Huh?

He transcends all mortal mental tools that humans use to study mere creation.  We must use Faith to grasp Him even a little bit, because reason/logic are worthless;  the barrier between Allah and our universe is the singularity that everything else we possess cannot pass.  Faith is all we have in that case.

And so 'faith' rests on what then? Intuition? The same intuition that any other religionist can and does have?

I trust that you read my previous post in which I explained the dubious reliability of intuition? And since you even eschew the use of logic and reason and mere human intellect, how can you possibly trust your intuitions, which can be so unreliable?

You criticize us for our reliance on logic and reason, so-called 'atheistic' faculties, and yet you reject even those and rely on something like crude human intuition, which has resulted in beliefs like geocentrism and flat-earthism, as a means of knowing the answer to a question as difficult as what religion is the true one?

Fair enough if it were just some a priori sense of the numinous, but to then extend that to any given religion, without any other reason, seems entirely arbitrary.

What evidence can you produce for your assertion that an outdated book is the word of some mythical being other than the book itself.
I'd like you to suggest some observation or experiment I or anyone else can carry out to even hint that the aforesaid mythical being even exists, let alone dictated a book.

Is that how "faith" works?  If so, who is the committee that decided the rules on how to judge whether a "faith" is true or not?

mrasheed i just want to point out that I don't hate Muslims or Islam and if someone is happy being Muslim thats great. But when they are totally ignorant of the religion that is what I have a problem with.

Also, could you please address these posts...

I'm sorry but I already answerd that.  Just because you didn't agree with my answer didn't mean it was nullified.  The Qur'an was written down and authenticated by the believers (including Zayd bin Thabit) and the prophet of Allah and had never ceased having the Lord's protection since the very beginning.  Uthman's "version" was the prophet's version.

Fine - but do you accept the version of the Quran you are reading today was written by man after the prophets death?

Its a yes or no question really.

Please note also that the bit about having the Alahs protection actually comes from the book that was written by man after the prophets death, unless you have something that ties the two of them together.

So it turns out the faith you have is actually founded upon a man (not prophet Muhammed) that lived 1400 years ago.

In my experience, intuitions are only unreliable when we doubt/second guess them.  I disagreed with your post and left it where it lay.

You criticize us for our reliance on logic and reason...

Correction:  I criticize the idea that they are all we have to interact with reality with.  You deify them.

...and rely on something like crude human intuition, which has resulted in beliefs like geocentrism and flat-earthism...

Nonsense, Zebedee.  It was the use of the five senses alone that made people think that the earth was flat.  "It looks flat from here so it must be flat."  It was intuition in the curious-minded that led to the discovery of something closer to the truth.

Is that how "faith" works?  If so, who is the committee that decided the rules on how to judge whether a "faith" is true or not?

That committee gave up millions of years ago, as soon as hundred of religions developed and they couldnt agree between each other.

The others came to realise faith is meaningless unless it is founded on something more than superstitions and fables brought about thousands of years ago, and relies on nothing more than fear & hope dressed with ribbons on it.

I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad ibn Abdullah was His apostle.  I believe in Allah the One God and creator of reality.  I believe in the angels of Allah, His messengers, His Books and the Day of Judgment.

I pray five times a day facing the Ka'aba and read the Qur'an regularly.  I fast the month of Ramadan every year.  I regularly give of my income towards those less fortunate than myself and I am saving up at this moment for the pilgrimage to Mecca.

Also, could you please address these posts...

For a bit? I don't think so. I checked the users ignoring me right after I posted the pics of the gay dudes makin out, because I had a feeling that was gonna lead to you ignoring me. I wasn't on ignore at that point yet, but thanks for being so fuckin predictable and doing it in short order all the same.

Meh. What's the point. This guy comes in here thumping his chest, declaring us all hellbound, defending slavery, considering menstruating women unclean, defending a god that tortures worse than anything done in guantanamo bay.... then promptly ignores any actual inquiries that would challenge his assumptions and acts like a downright know-it-all.

This thread stopped being worthy of being taken seriously about 40 pages ago.

Which religion is the fastest growing again?

Ah, that old chestnut - argumentum ad populum.

In any case the answer depends on who you ask and how you measure it - and if you counting people by the amount of faith they honestly have, I would say its agnosticism.

Otherwise JW if you look at % conversions against current numbers, Christianity by total number (note mass Islam deconversions in Africa).

In fact Islam would probably be in negative figures if it wasnt for its high birth rate due to povery, ignorance & religiously motivated lack of birth control.

So which religion is the fastest growing again  ?

    ME???

And that is what you want me to associate atheistic humanists with, eh?  Are you all the ones who were trying to appeal to my African-American-ness in order to draw me out of my faith?  And now you are going to attack me there?

    lol

I am going to assume that I win.  This is the usual tactic of someone with a weak argument... they try to get you emotionally upset so they can make fun of you when you blow up in anger.

Nah sweetie, you don't win. You're playing a game in your own head. You lose as much as you win.

nah i figured that we were done because the discussion started going over your head. So I just thought I would spam the thread instead.

I'll give you one more chance...could you please explain this verse for me? What does the bolded text mean?

Enter houses through the proper doors: And fear Allah. That ye may prosper.[/b]]They ask thee concerning the New Moons. Say: They are but signs to mark fixed periods of time in (the affairs of) men, and for Pilgrimage. It is no virtue if ye enter your houses from the back: It is virtue if ye fear Allah. Enter houses through the proper doors: And fear Allah. That ye may prosper.
