    "Very Hot Topic"

They need to make a new one that's really flashy or something.

    Just for me.

Well, you do already hold the record for longest intro thread. Congratulations.

he actually thought that was me and I was being serious.

I have no idea who you are, so I rely on what you tell me to know anything about you.  If you say that's you, what am I going to use to think otherwise?  You certainly ACT like a 14 year old afterall.

And you are definitely not interesting enough for ME to go digging up Internet information on YOU.

You ACTUALLY set your clock to PM when there's a solar eclipse at 8:00am?
I'm going to give you a chance to take that back and think about the question some more.

I guess I wasn't clear, so I'll elaborate. Whether humans set their clocks to PM or not is a human action. Its not related to what quran says, which is that night cannot outstrip the day. Eclipse proves this verse to be wrong, since in solar eclipses night does outstrip the day. What's your explanation for that?

That the average earth revolution actually was reduced to only 12 hours instead of 24, because day and night are now occupied inside of the same time period.  THAT'S outstripping... the day and night actually caught up to each other.

Quran doesn't say 'The earth's orbit cannot change from 24 hours to 12 hours'. It said night cannot outstrip the day. The definition of night is: "the time after sunset and before sunrise while it is dark outside". Therefore, night DOES outstrip the day on the north pole, where there is continous 6 months' day and night.

The sun only functions as a marker of time to space the salats throughout the day with.  If you live in a part of the world where you cannot use the sun in that matter, use some other reliable
method.   I'm SURE the people who live in those parts of the world understand their peculiar circumstances and can figure it out.  If you can survive in -500 degree weather you can friggin' figure out when to pray.  Sheesh...

#1: If they have to figure out themselves when they should pray, then it will be humans creating their own version of Islam, it wouldn't be from god.
#2: The main point that I'm asking you about is, why did god not give specific instructions to the eskimos living on north pole about when to pray, when he gives them for everyone else? Trivial things such as not entering Mo's house without permission are included in the quran, but instructions to the Eskimos for when to pray isn't? Why?

There is also thousands of fossil evidence supporting completely different theories as well.  Check out Forbidden Archaeology by Michael Cremo and Richard Thompson to see what I mean.

The difference is that the evidence for Evolution is backed up by 1000s of qualified scientists, who almost all hold PhDs in Biology (PhDs in something like computer science isn't related to Evolution, which is a biology topic).  Whereas 'Michael Cremo's only qualification is that he is an 'American Hindu creationist' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Cremo). The 'opinion' of an unqaulified documentary maker does not qualify as 'evidence'.

    P.S:
    Quote
Forbidden Archeology has been criticized for failing to test simpler hypotheses before proceeding to propose more complex ones (a violation of Occam's razor) and for relying heavily on outdated evidence (often from the 19th and early 20th century).[14] Tom Morrow of the National Center for Science Education noted that Cremo's "specimens no longer exist" and called his work pseudoscience.[1]

I didn't say it was the only evidence; I said "highest."

You still haven't given me any details about this supposed controversy, or any links. Mind sharing them?

I wish I would get an answer to my question so I would know if I should become a Muslim, Mormon, or pastafarian.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

I don't mean to spoil a good party but isn't this exactly like saying that every single word is contained within a string of the 26 letters of the alphabet?

For example, the english language has had its modern alphabet for centuries and yet words like "computer" were only used in a literal, technical sense since the 20th century. Does that make the english alphabet spookily prophetic?

Let me put it this way:

It actually shook the "faith" of the legendary atheist Dr. Crick.  It troubled him to his death.  It's not that just certaingenetic material componants that make up everything were in it, like in your alphabet analogy, but the actual literal code specifically for feathers is in our DNA.  There's a difference.

    Mods,

Is it possible that a thread be created in the Debate forums for only me and Mrasheed to debate evolution/islam? And then Rasheed can post the details on the DNA strand 'controversy' on that thread rather than having it buried down here.

    Who determines 'fair & square?'

The one posing the question of course, but fair enough you wanna play the avoidance game.  You dont want to answer all honest questions put to you, only the ones you have got your prepackaged answers for.

Fair enough - thats me out taking you seriously as a debater, you're just here to dodge & duck.  Good luck with that strategy for the rest of your life.  When you take your blinkers off and are ready for debate, and to continue to answer questions as many times as they are posed, then come back.

Now prepare for the full wrath of Khan

The most telling questions are the ones Mr Rasheed chose not to answer or obfuscate.

So please repost them here so we can build up a compendium to throw back at him once/if he decides to get back to serious debate.

    Here's mine..

Fine - but do you accept the version of the Quran you are reading today was written by man after the prophets death?

Its a yes or no question really.

Please note also that the bit about having the Alahs protection actually comes from the book that was written by man after the prophets death, unless you have something that ties the two of them together.

So it turns out the faith you have is actually founded upon a man (not prophet Muhammed) that lived 1400 years ago.

The thing I have been pondering the last few days is that God is Jigsaw from the Saw films.  We wake up having no knowledge of how we got here and are presented with a choice.  Follow the voice's instructions no matter how hurtful, harmful, illogical, or damaging they might be and we will be free from the trap or ignore the instructions and be subject to torture and pain. The question isn't "Does God have hands or feet?" the question is " What kind of sick *** gets off on torturing people in the first place for being thrust down on earth without a choice. Look, they even came up with the veil

" Wear it to protect your modesty, if you don't we will beat the shit out of you" aka follow the instructions and you'll be enlightened don't and die.  - Jigsaw.

I wouldn't mind all the death and torture elements or even the heaven and peace elements of religion IF we had been given a choice in entering the game in the first place.  But we don't we woke up in a dark ceramic tiled room with our feet handcuffed to pipes with a hacksaw and a casset tape telling us to cut our feet off and we will be "free"

Fuck that. I'll take my freedom. And I'll tell God that if he exists.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

It's partially in the work of Dr. Francis Crick, one of the co-discoverers of the DNA strand (you'll like him; he's an athiest, too).

According to the Theory of Evolution, all modern everything on earth evolved to their current, super-complex forms from progressively simpler and simpler forms going all the way back to the beginning of life on earth.  If you believe this to be a fundamental Truth, then it would be no surprise to you to know that the DNA strand... all of them, in every single animal and plant on earth... has the genetic code of every other animal and plant on earth.

In other words, our DNA possesses the genetic material for feathers, scales, retractable claws, breathing underwater, echo location, etc.  Everything.  The DNA in an ant has within it the genetic material of all of that , too.  All the DNA on earth has all the traits necessary to rebuild an entire earth flora/fauna menagerie.  Since everything on earth evolved from the simplest, single-celled organism, according to the Theory of Evolution, this should not be a surprise.

The problem is that the earliest found traces of earth DNA are the exact same.  And so is the DNA within an actual single-celled organism.  And so was the DNA found on the organisms that stowed away on the Martian meteorite several years ago and crashed here.

The very first DNA on this planet, had all the genetic code for all the animals and plants that would EVER BE ON EARTH IN THE FUTURE!!!

Let that sh*t sink in before you respond.   Smiley

Let that sh*t sink in before you respond.   Smiley

I missed this reply, so I'll reply to it now.

#1 I did some quick research on Francis Crick, he was an atheist like you said, and he absolutely accepted evolution and advocated it being taught in schools. So, if according to you he was the discoverer of such a huge flaw in evolution, why did he still accept it and advocate it so fiercely?

#2 You are correct that a lot of species contain the genes for producing organs that are not used by those species. For example humans can produce tails, birds have genes that can produce claws and teeth, etc. However, these genes only exist because the species have had those organs in the past. The ancestors of humans had tails, and birds are evolved from avian dinosaurs. Humans have never had wings, and they DON'T have any genes for producing wings.

#3 We have the specific fossils which show the evolution of certain organs, for example the evolution of the forelimbs of dinosaurs into wings. This proves that these organs were not present from the start, they evolved through time.

    #4 About this claim:

"The problem is that the earliest found traces of earth DNA are the exact same.  And so is the DNA within an actual single-celled organism."

This is obviously false, because even the DNA of one human being is different from that of another human being. If a human and a bacteria had identical DNA as you seem to be implying, then there would be no difference between a human and a bacteria, we would be like bacteria or bacteria would be us!

#5 Can you show me any credible sources which say that the earliest found DNA had the genes for producing tails, wings, feathers, brains, and all traits found in modern species, or even that humans have genes for wings? Keep in mind that only qualified biologists' opinion bears any importance. If the person making these claims is not a biologist, then this is nothing more than the opinions of any layman who can make any claims he wants without providing evidence for them.
