Hey Rasheed, old son. You seem like a basically decent bloke. You may not realise but you're proving to be a perfect example of a famous saying:

"Without religion you would have good people doing good things and bad people doing bad things, but for good people to do bad things, that takes religion."

You are now in the position of, as an African American, defending slavery just so you can cling to the feeling of certainty you get from an old book. That is an ethically bankrupt position to be in. You have whored your sense of ethics for the sake of a little emotional security. Nice work, mate. Afro

    I LOL'ed!

Gotta love humanity, especially your average abrahamic religionist.

A lot of them worship a insane sociopathic god that commits all kinds of atrocities like genocide, slavery or the most horrendous torture imaginable and yet they consider this god to be loving and merciful.

In fact they routinely thank this god for allowing them to sacrifice their very lives to him - figuratively and literally.

A few even believe that they will be rewarded for detonating garments packed with explosives in public spaces whilst still maintaining that the deity is benevolent.

    Fuck yeah!

    Khorne is well pleased!!!

Saying that "slavery sucks" is defending it?  Who knew?  lol

I can just imagine a Southern plantation owner saying that to his black slaves a couple of hundred years ago. No need for emancipation, boys. This shit is good for you.

The institution of slavery is NOT evil.  It's just a really crappy social station, one that anyone in his right mind would want to aspire out of.  The evil part is where humans actually treat each other inhumane.  Under Islam we are to treat the slave like you would treat ourselves... NOT like he wasn't a human being without any rights.  There is no need to treat him worse just because he is in a crappy social position.

An analogy is the Correctional Officer to Prisoner relationship.  The C/O is wrong for abusing the prisoners because his job is to see to their needs, keep them safe from the outsideers, keep outsiders safe from them, and help them get through their time with a minimum of negative incidents.

That's an odd statement, yeezevee.  There are no "brainless jobless bums" among the other faiths (or non-faiths)?

solet me get this straight...  the muslims treated their slaves with dignity and as human beings.
twice as many women as men, with 80+ percent of them dying en route to N. Africa and the middle east,
The men were casterated, and forced to fight their wars, then when they returned from war, they were all
slaughtered and a new slave army was raised with fresh slaves .  The women who were preggerz had their
babies killed, and the women slaves used primarily as sex slaves.  How noble!  How benenvolent!  Yes,
they were some real  sweethearts! And WHOM did they enslave, pray tell and how did they rationalize
ensalving them?  It wasnt winning a war protecting their own lands, thats for damned sure.

I'm asking you to use blind faith to accept Allah for what He claims to be so you may be saved.  Rationale is not the only way humans interact with reality.  We need faith too. If the Wright Brothers, and others like them, didn't have faith that humans COULD fly, would we have manned flight today?

Sorry, you've lost me there.  If a thing is real you don't need faith. If, on the other hand it only exists inside your head you do need faith. And nowadays you probably need psychiatric help too.

The Wright brothers analogy is a particularly poor one. What actually happened is that they wanted to build a plane, so they researched it from every angle they could think of and pushed the current technology to its limits to get a working result. This is a lot different to praying to Allah for a plane.

A believing, obedient Muslim doesn't "wage war" he acts only in defense when attacked.  So commands Allah.  And if you do away with slavery, it removes an opportunity to do good.

What a warped understanding of good and evil.

This is not important.  This is called "nitpicking on foolish points" and is the domain of those nonsense minded Eurpeans mentioned above.  The exact function of God's power.  How is that something we.. WE... can possibly truly understand?  If this will be the sum total of the discussions you will bring, hupla, I'm afraid I will have to put you on 'mute.'

Speak of more MEATY matters, please, like your fellow board members.

God is limited only by what He deliberately imposes on Himself, such as that repenttance/forgiveness example, plus His promise to only smash the unbelievers when it is time for Judgment.

I'm afraid that it is you who is avoiding the meat of the matter. Hupla has hit the nail on the head and you are running scared. Answer the question please.

I'm usually never interested in defending Muslim actions, beyond the 4th Caliph (Ali). Why should I care to defend them when they were such "great Muslims" to the point of chopping off the head of the prophet's beloved grandson (Hussein) and demolishing the Holy of Holies (the Kaaba)?!

But this video you posted is so full of lies, I don't even know where to begin. Like I said, Muslims (after Ali) are not worth defending, but I still hate lies, even if they were said about people who don't deserve any defending. How about we begin with the fucking lie that "Abd" is the Arabic word for a black man? True, it's used in some of today's local Arabic accents as a deragotary term, but "Abd", in classical Arabic, does NOT mean a black slave, it means "slave", period.

Also, this lying piece of shit, the fucking commentator in that video, said that the Muslims castrated ALL their male slaves, used them in wars and then killed them all after they captured new slaves! Like I said, I wouldn't have commented if this were true, nor would it have affected my faith anyway, since, again Muslims killing Hussein or destroying the Kaaba reflects on Muslims and not Islam... However, again, Muslim Sultans did castrate some of their slaves, but only those who were responsible for taking care of their Harems...

Muslims did use slaves in wars, in fact there were slaves with high military ranks, but the Sultans didn't routinely kill them after the wars... and the fuckwit (the commentator) had the nerve to refer to the Fatimites (of Egypt) as an example of a Muslim dynasty who did this, when the fact is, in Egypt, the Army Slaves got so powerful, they even took over the court!
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mamluk_Sultanate_(Cairo)

    Quote
The Mamluk Sultanate was a regime composed of mamluks who ruled Egypt and Syria from the mid-1200s to the early 1500s. By the time of the fall of the Ayyubids, most Mamluks were Kipchak Turks.[2] While Mamluks were purchased, their status was above ordinary slaves, who were not allowed to carry weapons or perform certain tasks. Mamluks were considered to be ?true lords,? with social status above freeborn Egyptians.
