  • T-Mobile or 3?
     OP - June 22, 2010, 11:18 AM

I'm planning on getting the HTC Desire on contract, and T-Mobile and 3 are my best options when it comes to affordable unlimited internet. On T-mobile, it'll cost me £25 a month, and on 3 it will be £30 (both with free handsets). I'm currently on 3 payg, and I'm quite happy with it. But since T-Mobile is cheaper, I'm tempted to switch to them. The only thing I'm concerned about is their 'fair use' policy for the internet. I'm not entirely sure whether I'm allowed to use IM.

I've checked their policy on their website. It sounds like only Android users are not prohibited from IMing, but other pay-monthly customers are Huh? Here is a snippet of their policy:
    Quote
Pay monthly plans which include internet on your phone
Remember that you can only use internet on your phone in the UK and you can’t use your phone as a modem or use internet on your phone for peer to peer file sharing, instant messaging or making internet phone calls. *Internet on your phone comes with a fair use policy of 1GB a month.  We’ll monitor how much you send and receive each calendar month so that we can protect our network for all our customers.

I don't understand why they have a difference between the two.

The other thing I wanted to ask is whether T-Mobile is any good and worth switching to?

I'm with T mobile, I have the full package.  Never go over my limit and everyone uses my phone so it's decent for the price.

I do find their internet mobile very slow though.  I used to have 3 and their mobile roaming was good speed.

I have msn on my phone, never had a problem with using it or had any letters saying I'm not supposed to, and I also have BB messenger.  (no android)

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

Fair enough. Might go with them then. My bf is with them, the internet is not too bad, it's at a bearable speed.

Looks like me and the bf will have the same phone+contract Tongue We've brought different coloured phone protectors so we don't get them confused lol Tongue

Also, even though they tell you you aren't allowed to use your phone as a modem, I phoned and they gave me the pin required to use it as one, the woman just said that even though they weren't allowed to give it to me, she would as long as I never told T mobile I had it.  Lmao

It's such a slow modem when using a blackberry that it wasn't worth it anyway.  Roll Eyes

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

It's not too bad I just have to move it around my desk till I get a signal), it's worse when I'm travelling on the train. Luckily though, Orange and T-Mobile have just done a merger, so by the end of the year I'll be able to use Orange's network too Smiley

They're new name is Everything Everywhere rofl!! Cheesy How cheesey can you get!
