I think it's mainly dopamine (pleasure chemical).. dopamine has something to do with mobility or motor functions (that's why you feel dizzy after a long time of non-smoking... it's the dopamine rush).

btw, your brain, being also dependent on nicotine, plays all sorts of games to convince you to light up...

Every single justification you think of to allow yourself to light that cigarette is your brain lying to you.

I think you might be right:

    Quote
    The Mythical Endorphin Rush

For years the rush has been thought to be caused by endorphins (endogenous hormone-like substances produced in response to stress or pain). Because exercise is a form of stress, our bodies release endorphins when we exercise. Proponents of the endorphin rush believe that these molecules change the way we feel, thus giving us that high after working out.

Jack Raglin, PhD, associate professor in the department of kinesiology at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, contends that the endorphin rush is more hype than fact. "Your body does release endorphins when you exercise," he says, adding that endorphins are usually released when exercise levels are moderate or when exercise sessions are lengthened. "But there's no strong evidence that endorphins change the way you feel."

But your attitude is very young too.

Not sure, I think attitude is ageless.  In fact I am quite schizo, I always tend to make the most of any enviornment that I'm in and metamorphasize accordingly.

Although there is one major difference, when I was your age, I was more sure of everything..

And also you will never quit smoking unless you actually want to quit. and actually "wanting to quit" is different from just "knowing you have to quit".

Exactly. The thing is I don't want to quit ! I know I have to and it's bad but I don't want to.  grin12

I used to be a chain smoker IA.,   A good friend made me to change the way I smoke., The condition was I can smoke as many as i want provided if I could make my won cigarettes.

So on the way of making my  won cigarettes  I lost interest smoking. But to start with it was fun., It looks cool and it   is very cheap.  you can make as long as want or as small as you want. I still smoke some times but  make my own...

Terrible cigar story: Went out with a friend to hang out with some local girls.  Got piss drunk and while drunk thought that smoking a cigar would be cool except I had ever smoked one before.  So I lit it up and puffed it like I was taking a bong hit.  After about 10 puffs I lost feeling in my hands and feet and spent the next few hours yaking in front of the bar while simultaneously feeling tingling though my whole body.  I was so drunk and nicotined out that when we got to the model's house I passed out and fell into such a deep sleep that I slept though the police busting down the front door and interrogating everyone.

Apparently the girls were drama queens and starting picking fights with some of my friends.  Someone called the cops and reported a domestic disturbance which the police answered by knocking at the door.  They heard scuffling inside and decided to break down an oak door and put everyone on the floor.  Apparently they tried to wake me up but I was so out of it that after a few times they gave up.

and that was my first and last cigar.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

Am I the only one here who doesn't smoke?

I really care about my skin and hair and all that and don't want to age fast. Plus many of my family members died form cancer... lung cancer being common so I'm just scared of that as well.

But in the end, we will all die. I might die tonight, I don't know. If Allah wills it. Wink
