    Interesting topic.

    Lol that's one weird website.

    Indeed ....

But everybody is capable of anything. The greatest saint is capable of becoming the most devastating monster, and vice versa.

Not sure I agree with that. Practically I think human behaviours, like height/weight, are formed in a normal distribution within a given population. As a result, law & order is normally distributed in terms of punishments. That said the thresholds of where a person is placed due to the crime is very specific and most developed countries have laws that do have an ounce of flexibility (in order for the judges to decide).

The best I think that can be done in this case is analyse the mind of the individual, see if rehabilitation is feasible, judge the risk to the public, then make a decision. I've noted a few cases in Japan where murderes get rehabilitated and then successfully released back into society. Example

As a side note, the very act of giving/denying rights of a person based on their actions I think a form of human intervention of the evolution of human behaviours within a society. And is a very careful/important thing to get right to ensure the population moves forward positively ... to live wisely and agreeably and well.

(I love that quote by Keynes!)

The original post has been removed so I'm glad it was copied here. It's a fascinating insight into the mind of a monster. I'm reading the comments at the moment, which the man in question is responding to, and thankfully most of them have not been removed.

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'
