    I have a very similar problem. I can be quite chatty and funny when I'm talking to complete strangers who I know I'll never interact with again (like the immigration officer at the airport yesterday) but when it comes to making friends and socialising with people at school, social functions, etc (people who I'll have to - in one way or another - interact with again or who interact with people I know) I just freak out, go into my shell and become this boring, shy, awkward person. I'm terrified of embarrassing myself.     You guys are lucky, at least you can interact with strangers even if you can;t with people closer.

    For me, I can't interact with anybody. 

    I don't socialise at uni, I don't socialise much with the ex muslim groups that happen, been to a few, had to drink my way through them.

    Don't answer phone calls, don;t make phone calls that are extremely important. 

    Bit sucky really, and I hate that about me.
