Thanks Iblis for posting this.  In fact it has inspired me to think about buying a guitar and practising this music style.

So I have spent the last few hours looking into the type of guitar I should buy.

I am thinking about getting a used Tapa Maciza Admira, the guitar is made in Spain and apparently has a beautiful sound and is an ideal classical/acoustic guitar - it has a Rosewood back & sides, Rosewood fingerboard, gold finished tuning pegs with pearl buttons - looks really nice.

Any advice from the guitar players here?

Islame, the best thing to do is to buy a second hand cheap, but good quality guitar. I recommend you take a friend who plays guitar to the music instrument shop in your area to help you buy it. There are cheap guitars in the market that are more toys than instruments. They don't sound nice and the frets (the areas between the metal dividers on the neck) are not correctly placed. A badly or wrongly sounding guitar will discourage you from playing.

Yes, for flamenco, nothing will sound better than nylon strings.  Afro

So Qman, how do you like the Guitar-47?  You can still use it as a wepon, just grab it from the neck and swing! Cheesy

Cheers, followed your advice and purchased the Spanish tapa maciza admira guitar thats attached.  Now I need to work out how to play the damned thing!  Trying to  followe a few youtube beginner videos, but proving to be an impossible task.  Do you know any simple spanish/otherwise songs I can start of learning?

Islame, forget the songs and chords for now. The best time investment you should do now is to learn how to tune your guitar. Again, a badly tuned guitar will not sound good, and eventually will put you off of playing. Search for "online guitar tuner", there should be many. Practicing how to tune your guitar will also train your ear for the notes. Good luck!  Afro

I already ordered a Korg GA-1 Guitar / Bass Tuner EB660 online - should I not have bothered and used the webs online guitar tuners instead?  Is there any real difference for a novice like me?

No that's fine. If it's battery operated, then it will be even better as it will be portable.  Afro

I got it done at the Picture People. All these babies were before me and they loved my guitar. I have some on YouTube, I dunno the quality, but I can record later:

I have had an Ibanez GRG170DX for about 3 years now. I played for about 6 months before I stopped practising though :/

I might get back into guitar once my last year of sixth form is over, though I have fallen in love with rumba/flamenco so I'll buy a nice acoustic Wink
