Sorry, Q-man, was my statement that you were defending the emirate/caliphate of Cordoba as a "beacon of tolerance" innacurate?

Did I fuckin say that, Dick Head?

To me complaining against something thats allowed according to the US constitution is as bad as complaining against the constitution itself. does that make sense?

It's a constitutional right to complain about the Constitution. grin12

FUCKIN AWESOME! Despite his awful haircut, this guy kicks much ass, and stated EXACTLY what I think of that smug, snot-nosed prick Condell. Every time he talks about US politics he exposes himself as an ignorant windbag.

So you agree it would be wrongheaded to regard the Umayyad emirate/caliphate of Cordoba as some kind of "beacon of tolerance" - even by the standards of the time?

So Iblis. Just to clarify your own position, do you agree that it would be a mistake to regard the sharia state that was the emirate/caliphate of Cordoba as some kind of a model of "interfaith harmony" that modern societies can take inspiration from?

He didn't make ANY arguments in favor of the mosque, you fuckin tool-- he simply tore down the arguments of the mosque's critics, specifically Pat Condell. Of course you authoritarian bigots are fans of binary thinking and false dichotomies aren't you? If he's not against the mosque, he must be for it, right? What a douchebag.

DH, seriously though. The reason why no one really entertains your posts seriously is that because we're not fucking stupid. You're a racist and a muslim hater and you already have set opinions on anything to do with Muslims. You're a bigot, and no one likes bigots. So why don't you fuck off, eh limp dick?

And I don't like having to go over tedious historical details which any sensible and well-read person already knows, especially not with a person who already has made up his mind anyways. So why ask these ridiculous rhetorical questions and feign that honesty when we all know you're a piece of shit?

So was Byzantium if we come to that.  Baghdad was also a center of learning.  Your point is?

My point is that Cordoba can stand for both progress and invasion. It's just a matter of perspective and that's personal.  Smiley

    Quote from: Q-Man
He didn't make ANY arguments in favor of the mosque, you fuckin tool-- he simply tore down the arguments of the mosque's critics, specifically Pat Condell.

"Tore down"? Let's have a look at his main "arguments" in detail:

"In the first place Muslims are already using it [45 Park Place] to hold weekly prayer services"

So how long have Muslims been using the building in this fashion Q-man?

"In the second place the area has been in economic depression since 9-11. Despite all efforts its never really recovered....So if someone wants to put some money into the community they're probably happy to have it"

Contrary to your above assertion that "he didn't make any arguments in favor of the mosque" here he is doing that very thing. Put another way he is saying "as a result of the economic depression caused in the area as a result of an act of terrorism an imposing structure dedicated to the cult responsible for that terrorism would be a good idea for the economic regeneration it would bring". Do you agree with that hare-brained logic?

"The estimated completion time for the Cordoba center is about 3-5 years...and you think they're gonna tear down a building and toss up a new one in fifteen months? Come on!"

So where did Condell get the idea "They plan to open it next year [2011] on September 11. The tenth anniversary of the atrocity."?

"It's also not yards away from the WTC site. It's a good block and a half and there's no line of sight"

Semantic nit picking indicative of his inability to effectively refute Condell's very salient points.

Perhaps you would like to take issue with any of Condell's following statements which Mr Quakey Voice fails to address:

It's going to cost $100million to build this thing but nobody's prepared to say where the money's coming from

It makes me sick to my stomach to think that Islam is going to be allowed anywhere near ground zero because 9-11 could never have happened if not for Islam and its teachings and its doctrine of jihad...

Without the shield of religion to hide behind Islam would be banned in the civilized world as a political ideology of hate and we have no obligation to make allowances for it any more than we do for Nazism

The organization behind this scheme is called the Cordoba initiative and the building is to be called Cordoba house and this is because Cordoba is the city in southern Spain where Muslims built their first great mosque at the start of and as a symbol of their conquest of Spain. The ground zero mosque is intended to serve the same purpose in America. Building a mosque on conquered sacred ground is standard practice. It's what Islam has always done to assert its supremacy and that's what's happening here.

Maybe because if you compare it in its actual time and not progressive mindset of the 21st century, you will see that for its time it was tolerant.

Especially comparing it to its Christian Counterpart, it was a lot more peaceful. During this time the christians were too busy killing of every one that was not a christian and the Catholic Church making tons of of money and wealth from serfdom.

Are you seriously trying to compare 14th Century civilization to modern day civilization? Because your comment " How can a sharia state where people werejudicially murdered for "insulting" Islam stand for "progress" is a 21st progressive ideology. And no it didn't stem from your christian buddies. It stemmed from 20th Century Progressive movement. Liberal Ideology
