Yeah that is popular among young Iranians around the world irrespective of religious beliefs who see it not as a religious symbol (it actually is!) like the cross, start of david etc but as a symbol of Iranian pride worldwide.
Muslims, Bahais, Atheists, Agnostics, Zoroastrians, Christians, and Jews from Iranian diaspora who are big on the whole nationalism stuff wear it all the time.
