    especially in the south. Get out to your gardens in about an hour , theres going to be a great meteor shower show tonight.
    Im taking a few cans of beer with some mates over the fence of Regents park and lying on the grass to catch the show  Afro
    According to the polls only 1.6 % of Americans are athiests. So what gives you the right to call the other 80% morons?'

    Thanks for the notice. Hope I get to see something, unfortuneately my telescope broke, I'll take my camera.

    according to reports you wont need a telescope , going to be easy to see them with the eye. Just checked with the Metrological pages and they are saying that the clouds over the south will be gone by 11.30 and the shower will go on for about 3 or 4 hours , looking forward to it , anyone going to the theatre or cinema tonight have just wasted their money , this is life affirming stuff , existential moments

    I've told everyone excitedly, no one else is as excited about it as i am :(

    My mum just looked grumpy - as usual and didn't say anything, at least my older brother seems to be fairly cheerful about it.

    Should start in about 10mins then? It's not too cloudy here, I may be able to see it from the start.

     yes This is natures entertainment, I love it too, it's so awe inspiring. Beautiful stuff.

    I'm kind of excited about it, but Looking at Jupiter is always a wonderful site, even more than horses  yes

    I've already seen three shooting stars here, but I think it's just started so there havn't been many. I will also wait untill about half 11 or 12 then see, although it's starting to get cloudy here :(

    I wish I had a stand for my camera, then I could have used exposure time to capture their paths -This camera doesn't take videos.

    I'm not sure how to change exposure time (need to check the manual), I think i'll set it and leave it out on a chair or something Smiley I don't think it's too windy, that it'll shake and false paths.

    Took some pics (didn't manage to capture any shooting stars, but I saw them Smiley )

    Here some pictures I took of the stars tonight, they're not so good because it was my first time capturing stars, plus it's a new fancy camera and I'm still learning about using it.

    As you can see my hands weren't steady enough (the cams really sensitive). For some of them I put the camera down and held the button down (I'm sure there's a way just to set it, but I don't know about it yet.

    Reminds me of the time where we got telescopes at our primary school and we all got to see some planets and everything. It started me off with a fascination with astronomy that I then got bored of. I think it's pretty interesting, really puts things into perspective when you see what is out there. :O

    Oh fiddle-sticks must have been sleeping when this happened last night. Those pictures are pretty good stardust, thanks, looks like there isn’t that much light pollution from where you were standing.

    I remember seeing a vivid and speedy shooting star in the distance as I was walking once, managed to chase it by looking up and turning my head all the way around to see it set into the distance .... I remember thinking: A) That's just as cool as the one in Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom and B) That must have been fast considering it was further away and travelling a lot faster than an airplane. (I was 7)
