  • Have you tried pork yet?
     OP - August 14, 2010, 10:51 PM

For many ex-muslims, this one is hard because its just mentally ingrained that pork is filthy.

I was with another ex-muslim the other day, and he was shocked that I ordered bacon on my burger.

He said, you know I dont believe in islam, but pigs are really filthy, its better to avoid pork completely.

Well, if islam is true, and we are all headed to the hell fire.

I'm not going to miss out on one of the most delicious foods I have ever eaten - baby back ribs.

How many others here have tried pork?

I threw up the first time I tried it. Avoided it since.

I don't know.... thanks to my parents meat kind of disgusts me.....

Does bacon taste good... or any pork product for that matter? Is it actually filthier than other meat? (Yes,  I know, I know... off to google!)

Ate it growing up until conversion to islam, then again after de-conversion until I stopped eating meat altogether. Have since lost the taste for it, tbh.

Fortunately, I was raised on pork (my family is Christian), so it was awesome to eat pork again.

Most Muslims I have met who accidently ate pork, I can say that it is 100% mental. For example, I know a few Muslims who ate, and they ate a meat which they didn't know (it was pork). They enjoyed it and ate more, while not knowing it was pork. Once they found out it was pork, than they gag and say its gross, while a minute ago they were finding it tasty. They told me the meal was a stir fry with chicken, but had some pork in it lol.

    Its all mental.

The religious conditioning that I experienced in my youth has stopped me from eating it even thought I've been an atheist for quite a while. I'm gonna try it this Ramadan and see what it's like.  dance

Vegans are just annoying. Though my friend is vegan. It's just so expensive to cook for her.

I can understand vegeterians (some eat chicken and fish), but I don't understand veganism.

Vegetarianism is stupid, but veganism is fucking bullshit. If it weren't for these protein powders and suppliments we have today, they would be a bunch of 90 pound sticks, with no strength at all. Most vegans I have seen are a bunch of frail and unhealthy looking twigs. You need protein in your diet. Human beings are made to eat meat, we are omnivores, not herbivores!

Just serve her a bowl of beans with a celery stick and tell her to deal with it.

I hate cooking for vegetarians. They are so damn picky.
And don't get me started on Vegans.

When my friends come round mine, I prepare a meal for them that suits their needs. Why the fuck sake can't they give me meat when I go round theirs?! It's just rude and I don't eat rabbit food for main.

Thats a double standard. Tell them if they can't make you a meat dish if you go to their house, tell them I won't make you a veggie dish if you come to mine.

    That is true.
I just tell my vegan friends to make their own damn food and bring it with them in a container. Vegetarians I can just about stomach. But fuck having to buy all sort of shit to get around their "no diary, no meat" rule
One time when I did attempt it, I used oil .... the wrong oil apparently. I just gave her a bertstare until she STFU and told her to go down chip shop or better yet, go to the draw and take a carrot.

At 6'1 and 200lb+, I must be the exception (along with most of the actual vegans I know). Only time I supplement protein is if I've been to the gym.

Then again, this is stupid, that's bullshit and I once encountered a camel without a hump so the rest must have hump implants. *cough*

Sounds like the veggies you've encountered require a good spanking. I've never had an issue eating anywhere as a vegan. It's true that most people may make an effort for you, which I'd always be very appreciative of, but realistically I'd happily munch on raw veg or whatever else was around. It's a matter of courtesy and not being an obnoxious arsehole as a guest in someone elses house.

There is this sanctimonious little twat that camps outside the local Favourite Chicken down my area. The idiot gets up and starts handing out leaflets about the horror of how chickens are treated and how "eating meat was murder"
Oh man, the urge to shove my chicken burger down his throat to make him be quiet was strong but I was hungry.

I have no issue if those fools wish to starve themselves into anorexia. The ones that I have met ought to be the poster child for eating disorders. More meat for me but do not preach to me when I am trying to enjoy my freaking fried chicken.
