There was actually a study that showed that people working in science fields tend to be pressured into expressing atheistic beliefs. I don't really know where it is, but it was discomforting -- yet not entirely unexpected.

Basically, I think there's a majority of atheists/agnostics in scientific fields, but not as much as is apparent -- the majority pressures a minority into conforming.

I don't care if the minority choose to conform with the majority. That's their problem.
I'm happy so long as the conversational intolerance does not turn into physical/harmful intolerance.
I support 'ridicule' as a tool against irrational and dangerous dogma. If a scientist wants to believe bullshit, they can. There are (quite rightly) no laws against people's beliefs, but they should not expect respect for those beliefs.

Give me a fucking break. Every religion can and will be reformed. It's not like the Bible and Old Testament started out as allegorical books that aren't followed to the word. In fact, some Christians and Jews today still follow their holy books quite literally. And the whole thing about the Bible being a bunch of stories by different people at different times, well, that was recognized after reformation and secularization. Anyone who's so damn sure that the same can't happen to the Quran is too close-minded to even consider looking past the present.

There's a huge difference between Muslims as idealized by Islam and Muslims in reality. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a prejudiced bigot.

This video was ACTUALLY made by the bad guys. The cameraman is filming his friend as he praises Allah and launches mortar shots at American troops.
