  • hello....
     OP - August 26, 2010, 09:42 AM

I can't say if I am an 'ex muslim'. I was born to muslim parents and was given a muslim name. Thats the only thing muslim about me. I never believed in religion or felt the need for it ever since I could think for myself. I was the odd one out in the family as I was always asking questions and always skeptical of the things being told to me about god and islam. Anyways here I am and boy am I glad to know there are people out there who think like me...

Welcome!  I've spent a lot of time talking to a friend in the UK who was born to Muslim parents and for some reason thinks he is a Muslim despite at the same time knowing he is not a Muslim.  The idea that people are born Muslim is quite a strong trick, and a nasty one too.

I don't come here any more due to unfair moderation.

Yep, to be a muslim at the very least you need to believe Allah is God, and the prophet is his messenger.  If you dont, you simply are not Muslim.

My family meaning my parents, my brother and sister are practicing muslims. I married a non muslim 10 years ago and they excommunicated me for 7 years. I visited them 3 years ago to make up. Now my parents and my sister talk to me but not my brother, who is a very rigid muslim. Though my parents are on talking terms with me now, I think they still feel ashamed of what I have done. I am not welcome to come and visit them. They have told all the relatives that I am a working abroad and have decided never to get married.

Do you ever feel the urge to run to your brother and touch him all over and say " aww you caughtz da Kaffir"!

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?
