    is indian even an ethnic group? i mean we speak like a hundred different languages in india and have the full range of physical characteristics.

    So would our ethnic group be our language and I guess "caste" for the Hindus? Then my ethnic background would be Leva Patel Gujarati Indian.

    I don't see why that is racist. Where I'm from (Texas) a lot of people say Paki (mostly Pakistanis and Indians) and it's not considered racist here.

    No, but then again neither is "East Asian", and I'd have a hard time creating a poll listing every ethnic group in the world, so I had to be broader in my categories.

    Good idea for a survey Q-Man. And the results make for interesting reading.

    It’s good to see us Pakistani’s at the top of a poll. Other polls we would do well at:

    •Most corrupt country
    •Country most prone to political assassinations
    •County least likely to give an honest performance on the cricket pitch
    •Country most likely to start a nuclear war
    •People most likely to set off fireworks at midnight, in a cheap attempt to add some sparkle to a wedding, thus waking up and scaring the crap out of all the children and babies in the neighbourhood...Fuckers.

    Yep, my dad & mum were muhajirs too (my dad moved to Pak after the partition to study as a medic), and then moved to the UK after qualifying.

    Biologically & socially they are, and I guess that makes my cultural influences & biological makeup as Indian, which is what this poll is asking I think..

    this is one of the reasons i think that india isn't a very good bet for my future, given that i got around 50 years left, a timespan within which a nuke war is likely.

    though of course, a pathogen warfare doomsday is more likely given how easy it is to make them these days. good luck to us with that too, soon to be a billion and a half people in 3 million sq km of area.

    White is not an ethnicity, in as much as black or brown skins are.  In any case why's white boring  Huh?  They have as rich & diverse cultural heritage as anybody else
