How has it changed your life?

    3 ways i think:

    1. E-books. Easy way to circumvent censorship in the Middle East
    2. Turned me into an atheist. No other time in history have we had such easy access to material critical of religion.
    3. Porn. No more buying overpriced Playboy magazines from vendors disguised as fruitsellers in some colourful Saudi neighborhoods. And don't need to worry about disposing them.

Its weird. I literally can't imagine life without the internet (and without my mobile phone)

Yet just over a decade ago, none of this really had any presence in my life.

    I mean, what the fuck?

availability of information. anyone remeber trips to bookstores and libraries??

According to the polls only 1.6 % of Americans are athiests. So what gives you the right to call the other 80% morons?'

    4. Listen to all sorts of music that I ordinarily wouldn't have access to.
    5. Online gaming is pretty cool.

    I looooooove the internet.

    Benefits for me have been:

    - Availability of information from various sources
    - Speed of communication (for personal as well as business matters)
    - A new dimension in social interaction.  (Although, perhaps at the expense of real world interaction, to an extent.)
    - Expressing one's ideas/views/concerns freely via forums, YouTube, facebook, comments on blogs etc.  Gone are the days when newspapers and the media giants had a monopoly over the expression of ideas.

Changed? It has been part of my life from my early teen years. I have grown up with such technology, so used to information and the connection with people around the world

    I mean, what the fuck?

Yup. I mean I was an adult before the net was even invented. Nobody even had a PC when I left school. PC's hadn't been invented then. Even universities only had one or two computers, and they were horrible bloody great things you had to make cardboard punch cards for. No GUI at all. If you didn't know a programming language you were plum out of luck.

Anyway, IMO the benefits are as already mentioned (although I'm not much of a pr0n fan myself). I think the availability of information for everyone is great. I also think it helps break down barriers between people who would never normally meet IRL. Gives a real global village feel to things. Smiley

can't imagine being without it for good. It's just a resource im very used to from an early age. But, for example, i had no internet for the majority of 2009 and part of 2010, like completely. I just got used to not using it. So its possible, but not desired Smiley

    Good ways:

    - All courses are online so dont have to go to class  dance
    - Solutions to every day problems can be found instantly.
    -  A great increase in IQ
    - FREE music, FREE movies, FREE e-books (The God Delusion  Afro)
    - Made me an ATHEIST. (Thanks to hitchens and dawkins)

I look at kids today and realise they would be real fish out the sea without internet amd mobile phones.

Yet we managed well before them.

But there are so many benefits. It could be, one day looked back on as the start of the end of religion.

Knowing Islam is the only true religion we do not allow propagation of any other religion. How can we allow building of churches and temples when their religion is wrong? Thus we will not allow such wrong things in our countries. - Zakir Naik

couldn't agree more. i think everyone on this forum can to some extent credit the internet for their apostasy.

It made me question Islam (ebooks, free-thinking websites like CEMB) and eventually leave Islam. Wikipedia is also pretty much an addiction for me. Every time I hear a new phrase or idea I am on Wikipedia geeking out.

    And yeah, porn. dance
