No it is not unjustifiable, it is simply a matter of perspective.  I could ask you to explain why you think human life does not begin at the stage I mentioned and what gives you the right to decide when something is human and when it isn't.

I've said before that I have no interest in definitions of life. I don't care that a fully developed human is any more 'alive' than a zygote or a rock.

i dont care if others do it cuz it aint like i cant change that or stop them...but for me its something i wouldnt do because i dont support it and dont agree with it Afro

I respect this position the most out of all in this debate.

    Re: Abortion being murder.

Murder is a legal term, defined here in the UK as the unlawful killing of another human being in rerum natura - since abortion is legal up to 24 weeks, any abortion up to 24 weeks can't possibly be defined as murder.

That's even worse. Cuz she thinks washing eggs down the drain is a heinous murder. Yet she'll stand and watch and do nothing to stop them.

You mean its potential to become an ape?

Yes, a specific kind of ape like you and me.

Its a intelligent and pragmatic approach.

I've said before that I have no interest in definitions of life. I don't care that a fully developed human is any more 'alive' than a zygote or a rock.

But the definition of human life is a fundamental part of this dilemma.  It is important to define it and establish when it begins and ends

It is more of a case of me recognising that the zygote is very likely to develop into another person who will have much more in common with me.

Much more in common with your species, yes. You can eat other adult animals together and pretent that doing it with a knife and fork make you a superior being.

Still part of the same species.

Yep. Like Sex. And you prepare for the consequences by using protection. And if that fails there are other steps you can take. Abortion, for instance.

Which leads us to where we started.  There are always plenty of solutions to one problem although IMHO they are not always ethically right ones if we come to that.

I don't do it because I think I'm a superior being at all.  I do it because they provide a good source of proteins and other essentials and because they are a tastier source than others.  The knife and fork are simply tools one uses to help eat that food.  Nothing to do with superiority at all.

Why do you think this particular one is not ethically right.

Do I really have to explain that to you?

That's too bad.  We are related to all living organisms in the end if we come to that.

Why do you think this particular one is not ethically right.

I had explained why I don't think it is ethical previously.

So when does it begin and end?

For me it begins with conception and ends with clinical death.  But those are my standards.

Bingo. So why draw the line at species?

Yes because it's a diploid animal cell with 46 chromosomes...

    Yes.

Because we were discussing whether abortion is murder, and murder has to do with the taking of human life, so one has to see what human life is, when it starts and when it ends.. do you need more spoon feeding?

So you picked a couple of arbitrary stages of a species development.

Bingo. So why draw the line at species?

Because after that line is crossed it becomes too implausible to identify myself with relate to the other animals.  They are too different

Yes because it's a diploid animal cell with 46 chromosomes...

Which means that you have not understood what I was trying to say.  Whether this is deliberate or something on my part I don't know.

murder has to do with the taking of human life

Murder is an important concept because it causes suffering. Not because of an arbitrary definition of 'human' life. This is why I said I don't care for definitions of life. WTF does it matter? You can call it anything. The word isn't important. It doesnt change the fact that a zygote can't suffer. That's what really matters. A label isn't important enough for a woman to have to let something have such a massive effect on her life.

Relating to the idea of pain and suffering is implausible Huh?

That's what it comes down to. It has the genetic make up of a human diploid cell. That's what decides whether killing it is ethical or not.

So you picked a couple of arbitrary stages of a species development.

Not at all, I simply picked the earliest stage in which the individual is a separate entity and the time its life ends after full development and maturation.
