Of course, there are lots of people who have had it worse than her, but how many of them are standing on a podium advocating for freedoms?

yaa i tried being a sufi and it had actually worked for a while cuz they focus more on the spiritual part rather than the strict rules u gotta follow...it was more lax but still didnt like it so i quit that too:p

i guess a lame reason as to why i wanna find a religion i fit into is cuz when someone asks me what are ya i dont wanna say i dont know...i wanna be able to say something proudly like i once did with islam(yes i know thats not a reason for wanting to find a religion but thats what im working with here lol)

Choose a philosophy then, you don't need a religion. Depends which philosophy you like, and agree with.

The only reason she is so famous is because of her stunts, her lying on the form which led to her deportation and the fact she is a Somali.

totally true loki...shes pathetic she just wants sympathy from denmark and to get some fame which is y she talks about "everything she suffered"

I have a good ten minute chuckle whenever someone tells me she went through so much. She suffered so much.

Oh that bitch, whats her name now... The one that lies about her name to get asylum and had that mind-numbingly boring book (it was more boring then the Quran) The Caged Virgin. She reminds me of Nefettti of paltalk fame: "they cut my clit, they cut my clit"

    Sigworthy, Kenan  Afro

I am not worthy Prophet Hassan. Thank you!!! I hope that Allah will see that you approve of me and will offer me a place in Jannah. Hookers and all ofc.

ya but kenan dont u think if more ppl had that same mindset things wouldnt be as bad as it is??

we wouldnt have those terrorists like al shabab and the taliban

women wouldnt be forced to wear the hijab if they didnt want to...its fine if someone wants to wear it go right ahead but to force someone that doesnt wanna wear it to wear it frustrates me!

Yes, of course. Things would have been very different.

Absolutely! All of our parents have horror stories which makes hers seem like a freaking winter wonderland.
My Mum lived through the war, majority of her family was killed by Barre and his Government's air strikes (As an Isaaq they were number 1 targets for wiping out)
Some of their stories and I have been up all night sometimes listening to my Mum retell her time back in Africa. Stuff of nightmares for me

She can cry about how bad an ordeal a forced marriage is but we Somalis know what is an ordeal. I'd take a forced marriage in Europe if it got me away from war.
She didn't even come from a poor Somali family. Her family were extremely wealthy by Somali standards.

You don't see our parents writing a book to tell the world  Roll Eyes

I am sorry to hear that but from my (pampered ass) perspective what she went through still seems like a complete nightmare.

Maybe there should be more vocal people like her - to tell the world what is going on in Somalia.

I noticed her not because of any suffering but rather because she had the courage to become an open apostate and speak out against the injustices of dogmatic Islam.

    Yes.
I know many Somalis who have gone through 10x worse than her. A forced marriage is nothing next to fighting in Somalia's war as a child soldier. She got out.

Either way, her trauma in life does not give her an out especially when it comes to supporting the right.

I'm fascinated by the reactions that Ayaan elicits from different people.

I don't agree with her on everything but I'm glad she exists.

She brings the worst judgment out in some people. Somewhere on here is a video of Reza Aslan comparing her to Osama Bin Laden. Rageh Omaar, the journalist writes in his memoir how in his reckoning the July 21st London bombers, a group of Somalians who ignited bombs on buses and the underground just two weeks after the 7/7 attacks, and who would have killed and maimed hundreds of innocent people had their bomb making skills been slightly better, he compared Ayaan to this gang of terrorists, claiming she was the opposite equivalent extremist.

This kind of lack of perspective and hysterical comparison, bordering on the slanderous, comparing murderers with someone who at the end of the day, just writes and comments about her beliefs and experiences, is fascinating. Violent killing and murderers are equivalent to a peaceful woman who blasphemes as she does.

she's not really an internet person you can google. she's a paltalk crazy who you must experience to understand her stupidity. she currently thinks that i'm a rampant homosexual and gives constant death threats to anyone who speaks to her. trust me when i say you don't wanna know any more than this.

True, but she does ally herself with murderers, terrorists, bigots and oppressors.

    Yeah, me too.

It's not only that she blasphemes, she also broke the bonds to the tribe she is supposed to belong to which is even worse. At least that's how I see it - I wish there were more individuals like her
who refuse to suffer in silence even if it means making some wrong choices in life.

True, but she does ally herself with murderers, terrorists, bigots and oppressors.

During the war in Bosnia Bosniaks accepted help from some very unsavoury characters because nobody else would support them. I can't say I really blame them.

If mainstream left was less obsessed with "tolerance" A.H.Ali could have turned out differently.

Yeah and if Ayaan Ali were being besieged by Muslim guerrillas and Geert Wilders or whoever showed up with a couple of AKs, I wouldn't blame her for taking his help. But that ain't the situation now is it? And if she needed the political right for her very survival, then please explain why other public apostates like Maryam Namazie have not felt the need to throw their lot in with the right?

The truth is she doesn't really need the political right-- either she is unprincipled and has made a political alliance of convenience, or she actually sympathizes with the political right.

Its a great way to denounce her, if you keep insisting that, thats for sure Afro

I do. She supports war and oppression and has aligned herself with politicians who do. Fuck her. Maybe you think a different moral standard should apply to terrorists than applies to democratically-elected politicians and other political operatives in "liberal democracies" that push policies that result in needless bloodshed and oppression, but I certainly don't.

Agreed - Infidel was a good read - Caged Virgin was terrible.

I admire her courage and wish her all the best - but can't take anyone who gets in bed with the US right seriously.

I also think she tries to pass herself off as knowing a lot about Islam - but in reality her knowledge of Islam is pretty weak.
