    hello Lynna,

how about we keep it simple? Just give your own interpretations of these verses.

    Keep it simple you say!?!

    hummm...

    LOL

You ask about a scripture that speaks about an event that may well be the most emotionally packed event of a religious person. None the less one that verys greatly from one religion to the next so much so that the words do not evn mean the same thing when talking about it.

Then you say,'' keep it simple''

Well, okay. I seldom back down fron the impossible when it's asked in honestly.

First please answer some qustions to gie me  place to start from. Okay?

1)What do yo think the Judgement Day is?
    2)What is an after life?
3)Why do you think God would want punish people inan after life?

    Just brief anwers okay.

If at first you succeed...try something harder.

    Keep it simple Matthew 11:20-25
    PART 1
It seems your concern is that there might be of levels of punishment during the afterlife or during The Judgement. Your question included the thought that the Bible might clearly support this idea of levels of severity punishment especially at Matthew 11: 24

Clearly the translation of the Bible that you quoted from did not use word punishment. It used the word 'bearable'. Other Bibles use the words, 'endurable' and 'tolerable'. None of these three words in and of themselves would demand the meaning of punishment. For example an history test is more endurable, bearable, and tolerable for a student who has regular discipled study habits.

    PART2
judgement days and the Judgement Day

In the past God has caused several judgement days. Three are mentioned in that scripture Si'don, Tyre and Sodom. Yet future is another judgement day it most commonly goes by the name Armageddon but is also called the Great Day of Jehovah and God's war against wicked mankind. This is not referred to in the scripture we are talking about. Just as a side point it is decisive. As an individual each person is either for God or not and as such they are jugded. If at that time a person receive an adverse judgement they no longer exist in any form what so ever. As in totally gone. (Ecc9:5, Gen3:19)

After Armageddon is the Judgement Day which is referred to at Matthew 11:20-25. Also what I undestand happens during this period of time likely comes close to what other people think of as an after life.

Everyone who has ever died since the beginning, except those of 144000 and those who have committed  unforgiveable sins, are conscious of nothing at all waiting for the resurrection of the rightious and unrightious. (John11:21-27)

    PART3
    The Judgement Day

This Judgement Day is the same period of time that is also referred to as the 1000 Reign of Christ and as Paradise.

All kinds of people will be there. Not those who Jehovah already knew that they had committed an unforgiveable sin there would be no reason to do that. Those who will be there are:Those who died at previous judgement days like at Si'don, Tyre and Sodom. Those he who heard the great teacher Jesus and saw him doing miracle and they did not believe because it was more important to them to hold tight to te traditions of their forefathers. There will be yet others who humbled themself under the mighty hand of God and made all effort to find the truth of the matter. Others who never had a chance to hear about the True God either because they lived so remote or the apostasy was wide spread in the place or during the time when they were living. Able who died so long ago. People who lived at the end of this system of things and lived through Armageddon.

    So...
What are these people going to be doing?
How are they going to be jugded?

    Good morning.

    PART4
The people of Si'don, Tyre and Sodom received judgement days so did the ancient nation of Israel. That however is not topic we are concerned with right now.

When a person is resurrected or lives through Armageddon to be living during the Judgement Day they have the same personality, attitude and values they worked at having during all their life. This effects how 'bearable', 'tolerable', 'endurable' the Judgement Day will be for them. During the Judgement Day there will be no evil influence on the earth (Psalms37:10,11 Is 65:20-25) Every one will be able to learn the truth about God. Every one will be judged on their responce to what they learn during the Judgement Day when they are pefectly instucted about Jehovah.

Recall the illustration of a student studying for an history test.

It matters what a person has done all their life because that detrmine who they really are. Jehovah and his first creation Jesus can know what we are thinking. The very motives for why we do what we do.

    So...

If at first you succeed...try something harder.

    pART5

That the Judgement Day will be more 'bearable','tolerable' and 'endurable' for some then for others does not have to do with levels of severity of punishment. At least not in the sense that most think of punishment in an afterlife. If some one after being perfectly instructed about God while living in Paradise still does not want to live there they will just die turn to dust and not have another resurrection. They will be gone forever.

The warning is a strong one to people who might have an attitude like those in Chora'zin, Bethsa'ida and Caper'naum. They were insrtucted by Jesus and saw many great miracle they choose the traditions of their forefather. They were more interested in what they could see with their eyes (the temple in Jerusalem) then what those things taught them about Jehovah (how God has organized things). Just to mention a couple of things they missed that stand as lessons for people living now.

There wont be levels severity of punishment during the Judgement Day.
