    We often talk about imagining the unimaginable size of the universe, but can you even comprehend the size of a single star?

    But yeah, the universe was made just for us - a flash-in-the-pan ape species clinging onto a tiny ball of rock, a rock on which the majority of its surface is inhospitable to humans, whirling around one tiny star that in turn dwarfs us, in some backwater solar system on the spiral arm outskirts of a single galaxy.

    Yeah, the grand architect of the universe, the omnipotent master of all these worlds, had us in mind when he magic’ed all this into existence. And he cares about our genitals.

    Why is size assumed to be the primary quality of importance? Not the fact that we can comprehend aspects of the universe, not the fact that we are able to travel off of our planet, not the fact that we can ask questions that concern the whole cosmos, but rather in the end, we are to be judged by our size?

    Sure, but we can look at it the other way too. If it's all created for us apes, there must be billions of years worth of exploration afforded us - billions of years of adventure for us.

    Not that I think the universe was created for us, but that our size doesn't matter to that question either way.

    I think it would be the height of our ego to assume that this vast universe was created for the sole purpose for us mere humans, because like you described in contrast to everything else, we are rather insignificant and only we, confined to where we are, unable to explore further, and be humbled by our pettyness and ignorance, think we are the centre of everything and the most noble of all creation.

    However my question would be, why is it that only when a Creator is put into the picture, all of sudden are we to assume that this universe was created along with us within it, for our sake?

    Only the person who claims entitlement and ownership of the Creator over the rest of other creation can think so.

    So the error in thinking is on your part.

    Furthermore, if all this is created for us, all of it made for us to explore, I’d say the first lesson we are being taught is: size.

    We are drawn to the stars - why? Celestial bodies are so magnificent from our point of view that we name them after gods. If its all about exploration, then its about expansion. Expanding our understanding. Learning, developing - growing.

    Its all about size, baby.

    Sure, size could be important, but my question was - is it the primary quality of importance?

    I am sure that distance and space are important because they are tools we use to comprehend aspects of the universe but in that case, we are reducing the importance of brute space to our own ability to experience, not the other way around. Size is only relative to our own vantage point and shouldn't have any brute importance of its own.

    why do we give size importance?

    I suppose we assume it to be so - nothing wrong with making an assumption at a practical level but we can't use assumptions to definitively refute the hypothesis of a creator.

    So are atomic particles, the only problem is most people forget they are there, while celestial bodies are easily visible.
