  • Fabricated stories in Friday Sermons
     OP - December 25, 2010, 10:58 PM

I am particularly noticing a trend among muslims during my arguments. They bring some bizarre facts in the conversation which I think only came to their minds from Friday Sermons at the mosque. When I ask them if their sources are muslims without any valid source, they keep quiet. For example this is my conversation with my brother about call of prayer using loud speakers in Dearborn, MI.

Him: When the case went to the court, (about azaan in loud speaker in Dearborn) he asked for a sample of it. After hearing the sample, he said, it was the best thing he ever heard in his entire life, much more soothing then church bells or any other thing.
Me: WTF? What is the source of your information? A mosque?
    Him: (silent.. Smiley)

    ----------

Some muslim girl: American history is full of muslim scientists.
Me: What history book are you reading? Where did you read American history?
    Her (silent)

    ----------

Some muslim guy: Christmas has pagan roots. Not part of Christianity.
Me: Hajj has pagan roots. Lets stop doing that first.
Him: Hajj have no pagan roots, Hazrat Ibrahim (PBUH) built the Kabbah which is well documented then some rumors and false information you learned from internet.. Hajj was started after Kabbah was built.. Smiley
Me: only muslim sources claims it has abrahamic roots. No other abrahamic religious sources or any other third party sources prove that. But even islamic sources tell that pagans used to do hajj completely naked.
Him: Jewish and Christian even Zoroastrianism sources confirm that it was built by Ibraham (PBUH) and his followers visited it each year.. pagans found it to be spiritual so they started visiting it too.. but the actual start was from followers of Prophet Ibraham (PBUH)..
Me: Point me to the Jewish and Zoroastrian sources. Thank you!
Him: I am not aware of online resources to point out.. however best would be put aside few thousand dollars and few months, visit some countries and talk to people, trust me everyone loves to talk about their religion & background.. Smiley Here is some common sense how can pagan start when it was not even built..
Me: I have provided valid sources for all my claims. Your claims seems fabricated. Not by you but some muslims who create stories and make it part of friday sermon. They are absolutely false!
    Him: (Silent)

    Silence all round I see

"In a child's power to master the multiplication table, there is more sanctity than in all your shouted "amens" and "holy holies" and "hosannas." An idea is a greater monument than a cathedral. And the advance of man's knowledge is a greater miracle than all the sticks" - Henry Drummond

Yeah, Muddy, I just love the way anecdotes are passed around like they are fact. The thing is they are usually passed around the willing pious audience and so are met with "Mashallah!".

Nobody stops to say: "Is that actually true?"

(Reminds me of the story of the "Emperor's New Clothes.")

Haha, reminds me of the bullshit my dad tried to convince me with, for example by saying many astronauts converted to islam after having been into space. He could only name Neil Armstrong, which is of course untrue.

Another conversation went something like this
Him: during ramadan and 3 other months (before or after, can't remember) Allah is more forgiving, and heaven is more open to people who died in those months (muslims, naturally), and statistics show that indeed more muslims die in those 4 months compared to the other 2/3rds of the year
Me: Orly? Where did you hear that?
Him: Muslim scholars on tv, do you think they just make things up? they also do research, what, you think only the west knows statistics? (he gets angry and insulting pretty quick)
Me: Yes, that's exactly what happens, they make things up. Besides, what are you saying, that some scholar collected data on all the muslims who died in that period IN THE WHOLE WORLD and compared it to other periods of the year, finding that year after year these months have the highest death counts?
    Him: (silent)

Actually he went on and rambled some more, but I don't want to make a complete ass out of him.

    <dust>: i love tea!!!
    <dust>: milky tea
<three>: soooo gentle for my neck (from the inside)

I tottally remember that day when our teacher turned on his labtop, and showed the whole class an image of the moon, with a long cliff-like slash dividing the moon into 2. The miracle of Muhammad supposedly cuting the moon in half was live in the teacher's notebook.
And guess what? the whole class fell for it (including me. i was just a young innocent boy who knew nothing bout something called Photoshop  Smiley )
And guess what too? Te teacher was a science teacher  Cheesy Too much science in his brain cells indeed.

That picture went to pretty much all muslims who use the internet. And pretty much 100% of muslims fall for that.

You could have asked the teacher where exactly is this picture in nasa's website.

About his brother, I'm 100% sure on that. I saw him in an interview in Arabia Channel talking bout it. But i dunno about Michael.
what i know about him is that he actually bought some land property thing (an island, i assume) here in Bahrain. But I dunno if he actually lived there.

The miracle video of this is VERY misleading. The one I saw used real NASA pictures of the moon, showing this thick line over the surface of the moon. The guy in the video actually says "I will prove it to you" and shows a rotating moon, but then snaps to pictures only (the fact that the rotating moon is included makes me suspect he knows he's trying to deceive, although not sure).
Few weeks ago I asked my cousin, who is a non-practising muslim (except for Ramadan), if he believes in Allah. Funny reply of him: to be honest I doubt it because there's lack of proof, it could be all made up. But there's one thing that actually keeps me believing: NASA proved that the moon split in half and this is mentioned in the Quran.

Needless to say we had a little chat, so the seed to yet another apostate is planted  dance

Nothing is full proof but without any hadith in support of Quran, it becomes a meaningless sonnets and songs in Arabic and mumbling silly words in other languages.. I think that is good start for those who strongly believe Quran is word of allahgod and Muhammad was Prophet & messenger of allahgod. These idiots with beards shouting in mosques will have very little to preach with out hadith..

This photo + text was passed around the staff room at Islamia School in about 2004/5 by the Sheikhs wife to much mutterings of; "Mashalla!" and "Subhanallah!" and "Takbeer!"

I had to whisper to the chap next to me that I believed the photo was fake/manipulated. He muttered something about me always being such a skeptic.

Gas exploration by ARAMCO in the southeast region of Saudi Arabia, has uncovered this giant skeleton.

The desert region is called “Rab-ul-Khalee” (empty quarter).

It is believed that this body belongs to the AAAD nation. Which proves what Allah (swat) said in Holy Quran about the people of AAAD nation. They were so tall, wide and powerful that they were able to pull out big trees with just one hand.

Saudi military has taken over this entire area, and only Saudi ARAMCO personnel are allowed.

This picture was taken from a helicopter overhead. (Notice the tiny people working in around the skeleton).

089.005 Is there (not) in these an adjuration (or evidence) for those who understand?

089.006 Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),-

089.007 Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars,

089.008 The like of which were not produced in (all) the land?

089.009 And with the Thamud (people), who cut out (huge) rocks in the valley?-

This picture comes along with many other pictures, particularly this one:

Notice the gun in the hand of skeleton of supposed people of AAD.. Cheesy They must have developed guns those days, but they got obsolete and people started wars using old fashioned way of sword.. Cheesy

Anyways, the truth is, these pictures were developed for art exhibition, and even hindu fundamentalists use these for their own preachings.
