     OP - January 22, 2011, 11:43 PM

I want to compile a list of "good" quotes which were said by people who we'd all agree were "bad".

The reason being... most of us will agree that Muhammad was a bad man but a lot of the sugar-coated books that we read by dawahgandists still manage to present him as a good, decent, peaceful man.

To do this all you have to do is present all the good, peaceful quotes and ignore all the bad ones.

Everyone has uttered peaceful things in their life.  Even mass murdering, racist, bigotted, woman beating psychopaths will have uttered some peaceful things in their life.

Using the dawahgandists tactics I'm sure we can even make it seem as though Hitler was a peaceful man.

Are there any good peaceful quotes from Hitler?  Before he rose to power I'm sure he said a lot of decent peaceful things just like Muhammad did.

Can you think of any more good quotes which were said by bad people?

These are all relatively good quotes from Hitler...

“Words build bridges into unexplored regions.”

“The doom of a nation can be averted only by a storm of flowing passion, but only those who are passionate themselves can arouse passion in others.”

“As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice”

"Mankind has grown strong in eternal struggles and it will only perish through eternal peace."

Now if we just ignore the fact that Hitler was a racist prick who killed 6 million Jews (just sweep that under the carpet), then alhumdulillah Hitler was a very peaceful man!  Smiley

     Roll Eyes

The point being, the next time Muslims try to use peaceful quotes from Muhammad to show he was supposedly a good man... tell them it doesn't matter because they don't negate all the bad things he did.

What's so good about this childish sentiment?

These are not strictly bad people, but good quotes nonetheless

The question that was probably going through the minds of most of the audience-

"Where, exactly, are these parties ?" Tongue

You could have it the other way round as well - bad quotes by supposedly good people. Here are a couple of quotes from Gandhi

"Kaffirs are as a rule uncivilised—the convicts even more so. They are troublesome, very dirty and live almost like animals."

"We believe as much in the purity of race as we think they do... We believe also that the white race in South Africa should be the predominating race."

This is probably one of the worst quotes from Gandhi...

"I wanted to know the best of the life of one who holds today an undisputed sway over the hearts of millions of mankind.... I became more than ever convinced that it was not the sword that won a place for Islam in those days in the scheme of life. It was the rigid simplicity, the utter self-effacement of the Prophet the scrupulous regard for pledges, his intense devotion to his friends and followers, his intrepidity, his fearlessness, his absolute trust in God and in his own mission. These and not the sword carried everything before them and surmounted every obstacle. When I closed the second volume (of the Prophet's biography), I was sorry there was not more for me to read of that great life."

Why is that a bad quote by Gandhi?
Aren't you behaving in exactly the same way as some of those Muslims who only filter out the good events/quotes of the Prophet and disregard the bad bits?
And do you think the world (in particular the Indian subcontinent) would be a more peacefull place if those people at power would say "L00olz! you stupid Mooselims worship a pedo and a massmurdering epileptic psychopath!!11" ?

The majority of the literature (even the non-Muslim biographies) talk of Muhammed as a spirirual leader. (e.g.: Karen Armstrong)

Since this is turning into a Shit On Gandhi thread, we might as well milk it...

According to Mr. Fischer, Gandhi's view was that the German Jews ought to commit collective suicide, which "would have aroused the world and the people of Germany to Hitler's violence." After the war he justified himself: the Jews had been killed anyway, and might as well have died significantly.

is only one defense: the creative act.

A man came to Allah's Apostle and said, "O Allah's Apostle! Who is more entitled to be treated with the best companionship by me?" The Prophet said, "Your mother." The man said, "Who is next?" The Prophet said, "Your mother." The man further said, "Who is next?" The Prophet said, "Your mother." The man asked for the fourth time, "Who is next?" The Prophet said, "Your father."

Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 8, No. 2

When your mother has grown older,
    When her dear, faithful eyes
No longer see life as they once did,
    When her feet, grown tired,
No longer want to carry her as she walks,
Then lend her your arm in support, escort her with happy pleasure—
the hour will come when, weeping, you must accompany her on her final walk.

And if she asks you something, then give her an answer.
And if she asks again, then speak!
And if she asks yet again, respond to her, not impatiently, but with gentle calm.

And if she cannot understand you properly, explain all to her happily.
The hour will come, the bitter hour, when her mouth asks for nothing more.

    Sonntag-Morgenpost, 14 May 1933.

    Quote
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”---Joseph Goebbels
