Yeah, that old chestnut. The world is beautiful therefore what Jesus/Allah/Yahweh said is true. Funny that the Qur'an uses this argument, and, significantly, never mentions diseases, famine, drought, etc, as evidences for His existence. Odd indeed that the All-Wise used an argument that even the simplest of religionists use, particularly when they haven't really thought it through.

you miss the point. Even with the assumption that Muhammed was an imposter, the argument was still very good. The default assumption was the Creator God exists (everyone, at least among arabs, agreed t this), now if you claim there are other deities, then produce the evidence they exist, that was one of the Quranic arguments against polytheism. Atheists took this a bit further by changing the default assumption to the non-existence of God, yet they still use the very same argument:
