Bahahah yea. I was in a hall with 100s of indians and they all laughed so hard. I even yelled out "No one is listening !!"

Do you know who Donald Bradman was ? Thats what happened to him and it brought his average to 99.94

Dad has mentioned him a few times, seen a few vids of him play, on youtube--yah I'm a boring cow  Smiley

Don't be bitter. He has graced the game with his talent. We will be lucky if we see a batsman as great as him in our lifetime again.

Murali plays his last game on Saturday I believe as well and it would be a great story for him to bow out with a World Cup victory too. I think he was part of the team that won in 1996 though, and Sachin doesn't have a WC medal.

Either way, it will be a smashing game. May the best team win.

I can be a sore loser  Tongue I don't watch test cricket (too fucking boring!) but I've been watching the IPL series and yes, I agree, I doubt we'll see a batsman like him again.

All of these Muslim cricket players are sinners anyway.  They don't pray their salah because they're on the pitch all day.  Shame on them.

I'm not saying this, Zakir Naik is, and let's be honest from an Islamic perspective he's absolutely right.

Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi was notably gracious after such a high-profile defeat.

"I want to congratulate the Indian cricket team and all the Indian nation for this great victory and wish them well for the final," he said.

"We have played really well in this whole tournament, and the boys did a great job. I am very proud to be captain of these guys.

"Wahab Riaz really bowled well, but we missed some opportunities and, in the end, they played better than us. Sorry to our nation. We tried our level best."

From the largely self-invented problems of the Islamic Republic cricket was a huge and splendid diversion, and while the fever lasted all the solemn and angry nonsense spouting from self-righteous throats about national honour and the rest was mercifully forgotten.

If there is a world prize for unrelenting bad news no marks for guessing which country would win it hands down: Pakistan. And here for a change was something ordinary Pakistanis could take pride in, the performance of its cricket team, battered by scandal though it was and beset by an administrative setup that would have re-sunk the Titanic. Yet, amid these bleak circumstances, coming from nowhere and going on to the semi-finals to play traditional rivals India. Surely something to be proud of.

    Quote
if I may say so, he had no business saying that if the team won at Mohali each player would get 25 acres. This is exactly the kind of emotional excess, not to mention Mughal largesse, we should be avoiding as a nation, taking a game of cricket to be just that, rather than a matter of life and death.

And of course there is no cure yet, at least not in known medicine, for my friend Rehman Malik, less interior minister than verbal blunderbuss prone to go off at the most unexpected moment. About match-fixing he had to deliver a warning right on the eve of the match, further underscoring his great sense of timing. And then perhaps to make up for the fireworks, he had to go and offer special prayers at Faisal Mosque for the team’s success. It isn’t just our cricket team which cracks under pressure. Put any government of Pakistan on a stress test and it can be almost counted upon to behave in a silly manner.

    Quote
And what got into the team itself to have itself photographed offering congregational prayers in the centre of Mohali ground during a training session? Whom was it trying to impress, the inscrutable powers above or the folks back home? All the world cup teams – all – subscribe to different faiths and it would be perfectly natural for them to call on the Most High for success and victory. But the kind of exhibitionism at which we somehow seem to excel, and which doesn’t embarrass us in the least, is best avoided. We don’t have to wear our faith on our sleeves.

Yes, yes, I know the standard mantra that we are God’s chosen people and Pakistan was created as a special gift from heaven .......

    T

he best team won the World Cup, simple as that. Congratulations to all Indians.

Made up for Sachin Tendulkar, the cricket romantic in me if thrilled for him winning in his hometown at this age. Thought India showed alot of composure after the little master was out for 18 and Sehwag went for a duck. Well done.

I thought Gautam Gambhir said a really brilliant thing in his interview after the game, when he was asked about the whole team lifting Tendulkar on their shoulders for a lap of honour, he said "Sachin has carried the burden and hopes of the whole nation for 21 years, so it was about time that we carried him on our shoulders for once'

Excellent final, first time I've sat down and watched a whole one dayer from first ball to last in ages.

The better team in the final won but I don't think it's fair to say India were the best team in the tournament. To have such a poor bowling attack and still win the world cup is abysmal for the sport.
(The best team was South Africa by far, in terms of batting, fielding, pace bowling and spin bowling they were the most complete team)

Well played. Not the smelly hairy fobby indian guys will be going nuts and we will have to hear the stupid "Chak Di India" track. Let see how far they get in the next world cup after they stop riding tendulkar's tail.

Zaheer Khan was especially good during this tournament. He has been in and out of the team for some time and did really well to be so consistent. He bowled 3 newball maidens when the fielders were in. Great improvement by him. Yuvraj did well throughout the tournament. Though a 100 from tendulkar would have surely given him the man of the tournament, now that would have been a sight to behold.
