    Who's into it? Practice it, watch the movies, or just appreciate it?

    Here's a cliché, but I stumbled across a Bruce Lee flick when I was little and got really hooked (even to his woo-woo philosophy in his Tao of Jeet Kune Do book and started wearing Asics and all). I took up Thai boxing in the end, but bloody hell is kung fu beautiful.

    I ve done Sambo(Russian Military Martial Art) Ive started bodybuilding as well.

    I was a brown belt Karate as well, I also had many street fights in my past, but I am abit more mature now.

    Kung fu wasnt my kind of thing, I am more a simple straight fighter, I dont like the jumping around and making noises.

    Thai Boxing is all about getting hit, I wouldnt recommend it much, Try something that combines grappling like vale tudo, Brazilian Jui Jitsu,

    over 90 percent of fights end up on the floor.

    About 2 years of "Choi Kwang Do"
    About a year of Aikido
    A few years Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (About 5 in total I'd guess)
    About a year of vale tudo
    About 4 years Filipino knife/stick fighting
    About 6 months wrestling
    About 6 months Judo

    A lot of these overlapped obviously Smiley

    Took tae kwon do for a few months. As a kid was into Mighty Morphin Power Ranger. Watch martial art movies.

    I'll be grading for 2nd Kyu in Jujitsu soon (purple belt). They say you don't start learning Jujitsu until you attain your black belt, so not long to go hopefully. Hope to see black belt summer of next year. Did Aikido before that for a while, tried Kendo too briefly. I also do Tai Chi most days.

    Martial arts worked wonders for me, chilled me out a lot, helped put a lot of things in perspective. Not only do I have physical confidence and fitness but also a better attitude in general. I'd recommend martial arts to anyone, regardless of temperament or physicality. It can enrich all aspects of your life, not just body conditioning. I have a great teacher, though, which is the most important thing.

    I also have a complete nerd crush on martial arts movies and culture.

    I also went to Aichu Jiu Jitsu session and had aches and pains for about 2 weeks! Funniest part was because I was so crap at punching they recommended that I try slapping to start with. That pretty much killed my confidence.

    You'd love my instructor. He's like a sadistic Mr Myagi. He made me practice forward breakfalls for a month. A month of agony. I was in tears at some points, had to sleep on my side. But damn, it's a lesson I'll never forget.

    It's not violence and besides I'm a pacifist with a severe distaste for violence.

    There is nothing violent about a left right hook combo, two quick jabs, duck, body shot, right knee, left, clinch, keep kneeing, push away, go back, block low kick, fake left knee, and come in with a high kick, smack to the temple, fucker should have had his guard up and bam KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT ON THE MAT.

    It's never impressive or clever to glorify violence, but it's a lucky person who goes through life without having to resort to it.

    Martial arts are good but when u need to whoop  ass the simpler the better. Anyone try Muay Thai or just plain kick boxing ?
