If I remember correctly those songs are of huge cultural importance to the Cambodians because the repressive regimes were outlawing anything that sounded Western. Those groups stuck together and made that music with the very explicate threat they would die if it was found out that they did it. The music survived because people passed it along on the underground and recently a host of these song were found.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

This band is from America and they're alive right now, they are definitely influenced by the bands and style of music from that time in Cambodia you mention though. Loving their stuff.
