our military members ARE the US people  Smiley  There is also an org
    called Veterans for Peace.

    http://veteransforpeace.org/about_vfp.vp.html

So are paedos, gangsters and dealers. I don't have a problem with the average american, lets face it most don't have a clue with what goes on in the world. And yes I'm aware of that organisation, just another of many calling for an end to American aggression  Afro

Aphrodite, are you still a supporter of the Pakistani army? I remember you saying once that you followed them blindly and supported them because what they do is for the good of Pakistan. If not, what made you change your view? Just curious.

I'm not a pacifist. My view on the miltary is that they are a nessecary 'evil'. However, military bodies should be held accountable and their 'evil' should be moderated and scrutinised. Is that a view you have come to? Or are you a total pacifist now? Or do you still invest all faith in the Pakistani army?

There's nothing wrong if you are. I'm just trying to clarify if your viewpoint has changed. I feel contradicted on a subject like this too, if that means anything to you.

Billy.  I feel that way too.  If you would like to further understand the
many gray lines and paradoxes of war, I HIGHLY recommend a movie
based on true events, called, "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence"

Oh, breaking news, NO pics of osama will be released, e1 can thank
    daddy obama for that lol

The White House you might observe had you not been dropped on your head by your mother is rather quite fond of Islamic law when it plays to its advantage as in the recent payment of blood money to spring a CIA operative out of jail held on trial in Pakistan for double murder. Very handy this Shariah business.

The Taliban’s compliance with extradition warrants says nothing about their internal political character. The Saudis are no less of a theocratic state, but they comply with the US war on terror. As do the Pakistanis, the Egyptians and all the rogue states of the ME for their own political ends. The Taliban was warmly received by the Clinton White House as a regional business ally too. There is no fundamental conflict between Freedom’s Land and Islamic states if only because in the case of the House of Saud and the Taliban America backed them. Uncle Sam made bin Laden; he’s now unmade him. No triumph this. Just a costly blunder.

You almost mentioned the oil pipeline though usually the " the us paid them millions of dollars before" gets mentioned at the end as well.  is that the only time that the subject of Bin Laden was broached with the Taliban? If it wasn't what were the previous responses and why?

I care little for their religiously but to high light the caprious nature of the oaf g w bush.  Here were model international citizens willing to hand over Osama Bin Laden or put him on trial and all they required was evidence but Bush cast aside their rational responses to satisfy his blood lust.  We would expect nothing less from the brutish Americans.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

Also, note that the navy seals were NOT, I repeat, WERE NOT told

their mission was until they were on top of it.

Nah I'm not a total pacifist, sometimes violence is necessary. I don't have as much faith in the army as I once did. I've come to realise their actions are partly responsible for the mess in S. Asia today and yes I do believe the military should be held responsible for its actions but not by a civilian govt. made up of corrupt politicians. If peace was to come in the region I think Pakistan would go in the way of Egypt not totally secular but not as idiotic as it is today. But that is wishful thinking  Tongue  Part of me thinks the creation of Pakistan was a mistake...... :/ But its a reality that we have to live with.

One thing is for sure, the war next door is seriously destabilising Pakistan, a nuclear armed country with a bigger population than Russia. We've already seen splits within the politicians and ISI (the whole Osama thing might be another example of that) it could get worse if army general turn on each other coz there are both secularists and Islamists in the army. The secularists only have links to certain groups because of "national interests"whilst the Islamists believe in the ummah crap--thankfully Gen. Kayani and Musharaff were the latter. Imagine another Gen. Zia today  wacko

I wonder how much Pakistan was involved with sheltering him, I mean a mansion on the outskirts of Islamabad? WTF?!

It is the ISI who put Osama bin Laden in the compound so close to the army academy and only one hours drive from the capital because they believed that nobody will think that the Pakistani spy agency would be that stupid. They proved to be too clever for their own good.

That is Khalid Khawaja (1954–2010) was a former Air Force officer, and the former Air Force's intelligence officer of the Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence agency.  A former member of Special Service Wing (SSW) and a vetern of Soviet war in Afghanistan, Khawaja described himself as a close associate of Osama bin Laden in the early days of the Afghan resistance against the Soviet Union.  He was once suspected of being involved in the murder of American reporter Daniel Pearl.    He was found dead in Miranshah on April 30, 2010 – a month after being kidnapped by a group calling themselves the "Asian Tigers", while filming a documentary about Colonel Imam. Imam, British journalist Asad Qureshi and Qureshi's driver Rustam Khan were also kidnapped with Khawaja. Qureshi and Khan were released in September 2010. Imam was killed in January 2011.

He knew where Osama was living in Pakistan and he was with ISI and Govt of Pakistan all the time.....  It is impossible that people like Musharraf who was ruling Pakistan until 2008 didn't know where Osama was living..

Tom Holm, a former Marine, a member of the Creek/Cherokee Nations and a retired professor of American Indian studies at the University of Arizona, said: “Robert E. It has taken many decades to erase "Geronimo" as being synonimous with
"evil incarnate"   It is a huge insult to the native americans, and i knew there
would be backlash once that "code name" was announced.  obama courted
the native americans furiously prior to his election.  He just threw ALL their
votes out the window for damned sure lol.

p.s. i was referring to the scary dude as the one BEFORE your vid on osama.

Well I am not sure about that.. Obama is much smarter than these guys..

Congress to Examine "Inappropriate" and "Devastating" Use of "Geronimo" Codename in bin Laden Mission

The Obama administration has indicated that the Navy SEALs who killed bin Laden did not use “Geronimo” as the codename for him, but rather it was the code for the act of capturing or killing him.

It is the Washington Post which reports that the Taliban offered up bin Laden. Not the Bison.

    Nope they did not.,

Americans being a free press write whatever they want and the link you gave has no conclusive evidence of Mullah Omar Taliban offered anything.  You seem not to understand this Mullah Omar Taliban was fully under control of Pakistan's ISI., there is no way that Pakistan's army will offer Osama to Washington., Osama is/was Cash cow until his death couple of days back, apart from controlling Indians through Kashmir Jihad..

    Roll Eyes

In one of your previous posts you specifically mentioned that (according to you) the issue here is violation of international laws.
    Here:

I don't particularly like murderers who violate the sovereignty of nations so they can commit extra-judicial killings (he wasn't found guilty by any court) thus violating International law ...

Since you are an expert on the topic of international law I find it surprising that you failed to notice that public hearing is defined as an absolute right according to the said law:

Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that:
"Everyone is entitled in full equality to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in the determination of his rights and obligations and of any criminal charge against him."

As a minimum the right to fair trial includes the following fair trial rights in civil and criminal proceedings (this includes crimes against humanity and war crimes):

the right to be heard by a competent, independent and impartial tribunal
the right to a public hearing
the right to be heard within a reasonable time
    the right to counsel
    the right to interpretation

Do you think the reason International Criminal Court in Hague conducts public trials is purely for the benefit of public entertainment or what?
