This might be a stupid question, but where do you guys learn all the political views and figures etc from?

I just see what the people I dislike are saying, then I spout the opposite to them.

Btw do you know why my previous post was indefensible?
If one was to assume that bin Laden actually surrendered to Navy Seals that is.

In 1974, at the age of 17, Osama married Najwa Ghanem at Latakia;[26] Najwa divorced him in 2001 before the attacks. He married five other woman: Khadijah Sharif (1983), who divorced him in the 1990s; Khairiah Sabar (1985), whose fate is unknown; Siham Sabar (1987), whose fate is also unknown; an unknown wife with whom his marriage was immediately annulled; and Amal al-Sadah (2000).[27] Through these women bin Laden fathered between 20 and 26 children.[28][29]

Osama bin Laden's known children, from his respective wives, include:

To be fair to Pakistan or rather those in Pakistan who were actually trying to capture bin Laden,  if you could find a building that no was going to search, everything you need was going to be brought in by others, and you weren't going to leave any time soon then a military base would be the place to hide.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

listened to the radio this morning and they made some valid points.
It was known that bin laden needed dialesis (sp?)  regularly, and
would also need to be medically supervised.  So. WHO was the doctor(s)
who took care of him, got him his meds, did his blood work, etc?

    Islam Needs Reformists,   Not 'Moderates'
Bin Laden's followers represent a real interpretation of Islam. Why don't more Muslims challenge it?

    Quote
President Barack Obama should be applauded for his risky—and lonely—decision to take out Osama bin Laden. But in announcing bin Laden's demise, the president fudged a vital fact. Echoing George W. Bush, he insisted that al Qaeda's icon "was not a Muslim leader."

    Quote
But this is untrue. Bin Laden and his followers represent a real interpretation of Islam that begs to be challenged relentlessly and visibly. Why does this happen so rarely?

"Moderate" Muslims are part of the problem. As Martin Luther King Jr. taught many white Americans, in times of moral crisis, moderation cements the status quo. Today, what Islam needs is not more "moderates" but more self-conscious "reformists." It is reformists who will bring to my faith the debate, dissent and reinterpretation that have carried Judaism and Christianity into the modern world.

Sounding the call for reform is no way to win a popularity contest in the Muslim community. After the 2005 London transit bombings, I delivered a radio commentary disagreeing with Feisal Abdul Rauf, the moderate American imam who later fronted the campaign for an Islamic center and mosque near Ground Zero. He had issued a statement about the London terror strikes, assuring journalists that according to the Quran, "Whoever kills a human being…it is as if he has killed all humankind."

Residents of the southern Afghan city of Kandahar condemn the killing of Osama bin Laden by U.S. forces, saying he was a "Muslim brother". Video courtesy of Reuters.

    Quote
"Not quite," I explained with regret. "The full verse reads, 'Whoever kills a human being, except as punishment for murder or other villainy in the land, shall be regarded as having killed all humankind" (my emphasis). For the British jihadis, I went on, "villainy in the land" describes the boot prints of U.S. soldiers in Iraqi soil. This otherwise humane Quranic passage gives aspiring holy warriors a loophole to exploit.

I closed by suggesting that moderate Muslims join moderate Jews and Christians in admitting to the nasty side of all our scriptures. The following week, a Muslim acquaintance emailed me. Peeved that I would "go after moderate Muslims," she curtly counseled me to "wash laundry in the backyard"—that is, to discuss our internal affairs privately.

    .........................

Notice that I say "used." Islam is being manipulated. That is why Muslims should acknowledge the awkward passages of our own holy book and reinterpret them—publicly. The Quran, I believe, encourages this: It contains three times as many verses promoting critical thought as opposed to blind submission.

    Quote
How can we reinterpret the Quranic passage that allows Muslims to kill "as punishment for murder or other villainy in the land"? For starters, we must stress that more Muslims are being slaughtered by other Muslims than by anyone else. To fight "villainy in the land," then, we have to repel the violent ideology of some of our fellow Muslims.

Drawing attention to Muslim-on-Muslim violence is essential to deflating the grandstanding of bin Laden's sympathizers. This counternarrative deals in reality while doing justice to a loving God. Muslims need to share it with the young people in our communities. And other Americans, including U.S. presidents, should expect us to share i

well that is what the lady says.,  Question is how are we going to reform Quran?  Can she NOT write book on reinterpretation of Quran that she already know??

Living in Bradford - it says an awful lot about the future of our country, our City and the so called community cohesion that so many Muslims and Christians peddle, that upon receiving and discussing the news of the death of the worlds most wanted murderous man, local Pakistani's can only offer two blanket opinions: Firstly, He isn't dead. (Why do they even care of he's still alive?
Are these types secretly upset at the idea of an American bullet in lodged in OBL's head?).

With the second opinion prevalent on our streets, offering a childish blame game with little condemnation for Osama's crimes, I can only sigh and feel somewhat incredibly depressed at the idea of bringing my children up into a City/country - inhabited by brain washed, idiotic Muslims, living freely, practicing their faith, building their mosque's, their faith schools and enjoying the fruits of living in a decent democratic nation, only for them to witness these same people support, defend & sympathize a warped ideologist who's organization not only murdered innocent people, but also dreamed of Islamifying the very hospitable Western world many Muslims enjoy.

I'm angry but I'm also amazed at the ignorance and not so subtle care for Osama's life.
How can ANYBODY ask me to enjoy living in a City filled with Pakistani culture, people, religion and all that comes with living along side British Pakistani's - when these same people are so warped and brain washed by their stupid religion, that a simple condemnation for an evil terrorist who killed many innocent Western people, cannot be found with ease?

I'm beginning to hate Pakistani Muslims.

That marks you out as a hater, racist, bigot and above all A PHOBE!

Seriously though, impulses to "hate" should be resisted. Hating a Muslim is about as useful as hating a smallpox carrier. The problem must be examined rationally and rational solutions - eg immigration control, disallowing further mosque building - implimented before the Muslim population in the UK grows so large that the country moves to a state of civil war as non-Muslims respond aggressively to increasing Muslim violence and interference in their personal freedom and Muslims further respond to what they will perceive as "persecution" with even higher levels of paranoia and violence until one or other side is subjugated or destroyed.

The mosque: the most epic display of collective douchbaggery, arrogance and delusion

Just met a Muslim acquaintance. Osama bin Laden was not involved in 9/11, felt ambivalent about him because he fomented hatred against Shia. Overall, he was heroic.

Osama was indeed a hero. But not for Muslims. If anything Muslims should be cursing him for doing such a stern job of associating Islam with global terrorism.

On the other hand Rumsfeld, Cheney and Wolfowitz should erect him a statue for revitalising and allowing neocon agenda to be implemented in practice. It is extremely unlikely that without 9/11 and Osama as a  posterboy for evil the agenda of the neocons could become the official policy of the USA.

Well he was a hero to some muslims who follow a rather crazy ideology and I think there will be more Osama's to come in the future:

What do Afghans think of Osama's demise?

Like the video shows not all those who sympathised with him are radicals, my grandma refers to him as a "lion of Islam" and is like "when a lion dies he remains and will be remembered as a lion"  whistling2
