Osama was indeed a hero. But not for Muslims. If anything Muslims should be cursing him for doing such a stern job of associating Islam with global terrorism.

Thats rational. But I guess the heartstrings he tugged in some, are beyond rational tuning.

    Islam Needs Reformists,   Not 'Moderates'
Bin Laden's followers represent a real interpretation of Islam. Why don't more Muslims challenge it?

Sounding the call for reform is no way to win a popularity contest in the Muslim community. After the 2005 London transit bombings, I delivered a radio commentary disagreeing with Feisal Abdul Rauf, the moderate American imam who later fronted the campaign for an Islamic center and mosque near Ground Zero. He had issued a statement about the London terror strikes, assuring journalists that according to the Quran, "Whoever kills a human being…it is as if he has killed all humankind."

That is  Irshad Manji  read it all at

Some great points there in that article.

    Especially this one:

    Quote
But what takes place among Muslims affects countless lives outside the fold, so our business is everyone's business. When it is "moderates," not extremists, who treat you as a traitor for advocating liberal democratic values, something has corrupted the moderates themselves.

That something is identity politics. Even in the seemingly tolerant Muslim communities of America, the politics of identity stands in the way of reinterpretation and reform.

Lion of Islam, my arse.  Lions are king of the jungle, they don't hide behind the skirts of the Pakistani army for ten years.  Or the skirts of their wives, lol.

    Exactly.

bin Laden was behind the attacks on the US embassies in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar-e-Salam, Tanzania in 1998, in which hundreds of African women, men and children, were slaughtered.

I 'understand' Muslims with such an intense hatred of America feeling a perverse visceral joy and admiration for his 'blessed operation' in New York, because I know how perverted tribal visciousness can be. But bin Laden murdered Africans, and people of all religions, in pursuit of his shithouse dreams of jehad.

So much for him being a symbol of internationalist rebellion against 'imperialism', he slaughtered innocents from the 3rd world with glee.

He was a cowardly, pathetic, murderous bastard. When Muslims anoint him a 'Lion' of their faith, they fall deeper into an abyss of their own making.

    Especially this one:

    That something is identity politics.

Well said in the article how moderates are "consumed with Western imperialism". In essence, I think Islam achieves the Us Vs Them divide so fantastically well that most moderates forget the "imperialists inside Islam" obscenely easily. Imperialists include bin Laden, Ahmadinejad, or in moral values sense, Zakir Naik and perhaps I think can extend to the clerics and Islamic scholars on PeaceTV for example. It's easy to discount at first, but there is definitely a herd instinct with moderates and political Islam, thanks to Islam's impressive (for the lack of a better word) brainwashing.

'Mother-in-law dies' on news of bin Laden killing

    Quote
DUBAI: Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden's first mother-in-law died of a stroke after hearing the news U.S. forces killed him in Pakistan, a London-based Arabic newspaper reported Sunday.

Nabih al-Ghanem, the mother of bin Laden's first wife, Najwa, was taken to a hospital in Latakia in northern Syria where she died after suffering the stroke, the Asharq Al-Awsat daily said. It said the woman in her 70s "could not bear the bad news and lost consciousness" after U.S. President Barack Obama announced bin Laden's killing by US commandos during a raid in Pakistan on May 2.  Bin Laden had married Najwa, his Syrian-born cousin, when he was 17, and they had 11 children, the paper said adding she had left Afghanistan a few days before the September 11, 2011 terror attacks on the United States and now lives in Syria.

In January last year, Asharq Al-Awsat reported that a son of the Al-Qaeda leader had been allowed to leave Iran to look for his mother in Syria.  Part of the bin Laden family, whose whereabouts have been unclear since the 9/11 attacks, was in Iran, the daily said, adding that bin Laden had taken a second wife in 1983 and they had three children before divorcing..........

I am sorry to hear that., but that is life one day all living things must die.,  Well she enjoyed enough with11 or so grand children.. It is all right., Some kids  never saw their own fathers., their fathers died before their birth and that is due to the preachings and actions of  Mr. Osama bin Ladin  & his colleagues..

In essence, I think Islam achieves the Us Vs Them divide so fantastically well that most moderates forget the "imperialists inside Islam" obscenely easily.

That presupposes that moderates do not worship at the altar of Islamic imperialism, historically, the 'glory' of Islamic conquest and imperium, and in the present, the furtherance of Islam, in opposition to non Islamic cultures.

The dream of 'Pax Islamica', historical, and aspirational, is a moderate Muslim's further pillar of faith.

    Thank the Emperor. It's over.

    http://www.galacticempiretimes.com/2011/05/09/galaxy/outer-rim/obi-wan-kenobi-is-killed.html

CORUSCANT — Obi-Wan Kenobi, the mastermind of some of the most devastating attacks on the Galactic Empire and the most hunted man in the galaxy, was killed in a firefight with Imperial forces near Alderaan, Darth Vader announced on Sunday.

In a late-night appearance in the East Room of the Imperial Palace, Lord Vader declared that “justice has been done” as he disclosed that agents of the Imperial Army and stormtroopers of the 501st Legion had finally cornered Kenobi, one of the leaders of the Jedi rebellion, who had eluded the Empire for nearly two decades. Imperial officials said Kenobi resisted and was cut down by Lord Vader's own lightsaber. He was later dumped out of an airlock.

Until body I see, belive it I will not.
                                            -Yoda

Why are we still giving aid to Tatooine? They probably knew of Kenobi's existence the whole time and even helped him! That whole planet is just a big hive of scum and villainy.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                              -random Stormtrooper

There's a lot going on here that we aren't being told. Has anyone ever actually seen Lord Vader's birth certificate? I bet that could tell us something.
                                                                                                                                                                                                        -C3P0

Osama Bin Laden Porn Stash? Pornography Discovered At Compound: Report

A stash of pornography was found in the hideout of Osama bin Laden by the U.S. commandos who killed him, current and former U.S. officials said on Friday.

The pornography recovered in bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, consists of modern, electronically recorded video and is fairly extensive, according to the officials, who discussed the discovery with Reuters on condition of anonymity.

The officials said they were not yet sure precisely where in the compound the pornography was discovered or who had been viewing it. Specifically, the officials said they did not know if bin Laden himself had acquired or viewed the materials.

Reports from Abbottabad have said that bin Laden's compound was cut off from the Internet or other hard-wired communications networks. It is unclear how compound residents would have acquired the pornography.

But a video released by the Obama administration confiscated from the compound showed bin Laden watching pictures of himself on a TV screen, indicating that the compound was equipped with video playback equipment.

Materials carted away from the compound by the U.S. commandos included digital thumb drives, which U.S. officials believe may have been a principal means by which couriers carried electronic messages to and from the late al Qaeda leader.

Three other U.S. officials familiar with evidence gathered during investigations of other Islamic militants said the discovery of pornography is not uncommon in such cases.

Although there were no protests in Mumbai and Delhi, there was disbelief about the fact that the American Navy seals, in a midnight raid, had killed the al Qaeda supremo. “At this point, I’m not sure if they got the real guy,” a youth said.

A journalist from Delhi said that the world would have to wait and watch to see what unfolds in the next few days. “The photos that were on the Internet were fake, so we will have to wait and see what the truth is,” she said on the basis on anonymity.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh issued a statement, “I welcome it as a significant step forward and hope that it will deal a decisive blow to al Qaeda and other terrorist groups. The international community and Pakistan in particular must work comprehensively to end the activities of all such groups who threaten civilised behaviour and kill innocent men, women and children.”

All-India Minority Forum President Idris Ali, who participated, said, “Bin Laden wasn’t given a burial and his bullet-riddled body was thrown into the sea. The prayers were held for his peace.”

Meanwhile, in Chennai, an imam of a mosque also announced prayers for bin Laden.

“I am surprised how he was there and how suddenly they killed him. I don’t believe that Pakistan did not know about all this. This is so surprising and so sudden,” said Umer Dar, a young, liberal Muslim, who lives in Delhi. He feels that the Indian Muslims don’t really care about what happened and is unclear about what they stand for.

Shahnawaz Khan, an IT professional, said, “It’s tough to feel either jubilation or otherwise about his death. Maybe it’s because I am against both the antagonists – the USA military and Al Qaeda and I would rather they keep fighting rather than one prevailing over another
