You guys are so lucky that you live in tiny countries like the USA and Canada. It makes it so much easier for you guys to meet up at the drop of a hat.

We have no chance of repeating that feat in Britain. Not only do we have a huge landmass to contend with, we also have various other natural and man-made barriers, preventing us from ever arranging anything similar here:

    •   We have a huge 20 ft wall running across the width of the country, causing a North-South divide. You need special vaccinations to get through checkpoints when heading North, and you need a very difficult to obtain visa, if heading South through this wall
    •   The North of the country is further split by a vast impassable mountain range, known as the Pennines
    •   People in London are self-sufficient and have everything they want within the boundaries of the M25. They are never allowed to leave, and the last time I checked, no one there has ever had the urge to leave anyways
    •   Birmingham and Bradford are self-contained demilitarised war zones. Escape is difficult, and entry is strictly restricted to military personnel and families of existing immigrants
    •   There are various shit-holes placed strategically throughout the country, making travel even more difficult because people feel it wise not to travel within a 50 mile radius of these places, in case they get overpowered by the toxic gases spewing from these shit-holes. These places include Luton, Liverpool, Sunderland, Glasgow, Rotherham, Derby, Dundee, Stoke, Wolverhampton, Milton Keynes, Swindon, and the whole of Wales.

Like I said, you guys in North America are lucky to be living where you are. If only meeting up with some of the wonderful people on this forum from Britain, had been as easy for us….

Cheesy Cheesy dude u are so lucky to be in Britain. the whole country is within a few hours drive worth. you CEMBers from britain should be meeting up like every other day! its us in NA with thousands of KMs between us. My state of ontario alone is bigger than britain!

That was kind of the point I was trying to make...Our lazy and often introverted nature means that many of us do not meet as often as we ought to...

You guys are such an inspiration. Your camaraderie impresses me so much. You guys are willing to cover huge, huge distances to meet. That makes me so jealous. In fact, for the first time in my life, it makes me want to be American; just so I can be part of your adventure...fuck the cold, reserved British handshakes that I'd get at an English meet, if it ever happened.  I want the warm hugs and high fives that you guys will be dishing out in abundance...I am so jealous.

Thanks Muddy and Nessa. I actually have a sister living in Alberta. She is always pleading me to visit. I will look into coming over next year, and hopefully coinciding it with your next get-together. I can't do this year because my sis and her family are actually coming over to England, so I need to be here for them.

But this is a real possibility for me next time, so thank you guys ever so much for inviting me.

Kod, you can go to Buffalo. And then cross the border using rainbow bridge on foot.

this sounds like code for something.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

Sort something out with Canadian immigration, pay for my fare, lodging and lost time from work and I'll be happy to attend.

lol.. Rainbow Bridge is actually name of the bridge that connects US and Canada over niagara falls. And because there is always a possibility of rainbows forming there because of natural mist, the bridge is named after that.

Just remember, Alberta is like 6 hour flight away from Toronto. Although you will have to transit at Toronto anyways to visit Alberta. By the way, Niagara is about 1 and a half hour drive away from Toronto airport in non-rush hour.

I can't say I'm not interested but I don't think I know any of you well enough to be justified in leaving my present engagements to fly up north. Plus, I think it would be super awkward~
A meeting in the south sounds awesome, though. If anyone's planning on doing something like that, I'd love to hear more about it.
