  • Islam as an organism
     OP - May 24, 2011, 01:05 PM

sorry if this has already been discussed,

i have a very small science knowledge but my social science background is alot stronger,

I dont know alot about organisms but you all seem quite smart so ill ask you guys for your opinions..

If we are able to view islam as an organism (please tell me if this view is even valid!) given its structure and effects on individuals/communities/country etc.. what does this actually say about Islam?

Is it a fair to say its fairly resistant to outside influences?

or could it suggest the organisation is imploding? expanding? stagnant? indifferent?

is anything im saying making much sense??

Would love to know your thoughts!!

     thnkyu

It looks like Islam is expanding, unfortunately :

Ive seen these figures before, but they all suggest islam generates through mostly birth. whereas the numbers suggest christianity upholds greater conversion and retention rates.

im also curious about how islam intends to develop as an organisation if so many muslims disagree with each other, apostasy is higher than can be recorded; so called "insiders" of terrorist groups as well as mosque leaders alluding that the organisation is crumbling form the inside.

so far from what im reading anyways

We need to produce an effective antibody to destroy this Islamic organism!

    On a more serious note:

Ive seen these figures before, but they all suggest islam generates through mostly birth.

Agreed. Though you could say its slowing down in the western hemisphere recently, with the newer generation following western society over cultural preferences (in terms of birth rates).

im also curious about how islam intends to develop as an organisation if so many muslims disagree with each other

I think this is particularly true for the Arabian Peninsula where in some cases one of the muslim group is treated as an inferior over others (Sunni vs Shia). Not to mention the other sub-sections of Islamic belief (Hanafi, Maliki, ect...) could potentially weaken its grip over time.

alluding that the organisation is crumbling form the inside.

It'll be a long time till we see any significant damage to the numbers.
