I'll describe it in one word:   Bullshit.

A load of evil mumbo jumbo.

Hi Azuremist..   Hmmmmm Azure .. that color.. beautiful beautiful...,
I haven't  read anything from you.. I am missing reading  good stuff from you.  So I say greetings and my good wishes to you.   What made you to join a  forum that is filled with smart, intelligent, hard headed,  very  opinionated, self centered prophets dear Azuremist??

Any ways, as far as   load of evil is concerned., Often if people don't question for long time good things get stagnated and will become bad,  may turn ro evil if every one stops questing it.  It is must to question everything good, bad, ugly, so things get better with time.

As far as "mambo jumbo" is concerned, it is a double edged sword. Some times if we do not understand good stuff, it  becomes "mambo jumbo".,

For e.g.,   If was an expert of theoretical Physics in 1920's & a  big guy in some German University.,  Let us says,  on the way a little guy like Albert Einstein comes along and says to me

Sir  "using  E=MC^2 principle.,   I would make  the  train  that is  full of people  to travel around Germany by burning just one  ticket of its passenger"

I would have said to him.,

"You are talking "mambo jumbo" , you are a fool..    lol..

So whether a concept is "mambo jumbo" or some principle that drives the universe is open to discussion.  People should have freedom to explore or waste their lives if they choose to. But it is must that they learn to use  a simple one line rule in their life and that is Golden Rule..

And if people don't know that, I say they must sent to high school and make them learn that Golden Rule

Any ways I am talking  some "mambo jumbo"   lol.. dear Azuremist

    with best wishes

Hi. Really not sure what to make of some of your post, but hey, thanks for the welcome.
My experiences of Islam are that the golden rule often does not apply. So I'm just tired of it now and like the easier happier way. Just interested and comforted that there are so many apostates of Islam out there cos I have never met one before so this is a nice place for me. Smiley

No yeezevee.  It's not the spelling/grammatical mistakes that make your posts illegible.  It's .... err...  the whole thing..  The complete lack of structure and coherence.

A religion based on fear, hatred, division and mind indoctrination which leads for false-fear, false-sacredness, false-grievance, false-offence with it's followers via quite a few cognitive biases (especially that of cognitive dissonance) and overall a religion which desperately requires reform or it's followers will further suffer in misery in this day and age of the Internet and freedom of information.

Great definition High Octane-that's totally it. Afro Say what you will about the Bible, but at least that doesn't emphasise and go on and on about how ANGRY God is all the time and how the tiniest, least little thing will get him angry and cast you into hellfire. Sure there's verses about 'love and mercy' in the qu'ran, but the verses about hate, anger and hellfire way outnumber them. You just end up being a quivering mass of nerves and paranoia, petrified you're going to burn for like, watching a tv programme. I'm not a Christian, but I can see and understand why Muslims in Islamic run countries convert (secretly of course)to Christianity, attracted by the whole love and forgiveness message whch is certainly missing in Islam.

Has nothing to do with love, and everything to do with cowardice.

You obviously have not read the Bible. It's every bit as bad as the Quran in that regard and arguably worse.

hellen keller.. oh yes it does lol.

    Islam in one sentence

Islam,  like all abrahamic religions, there is an element of mass hypnosis that blinds one
from being able to see, hear or think rationally.

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.

A toxic cancer that severs the ties of family and friendship, dispels rational thought and sincere compassion and invites a widespread case of violence with religious conviction. It kinda goes for Christianity too.

I'm not Christian either but I can see why and would promote Muslims converting to a religion that is reformed and drops violent verses in the Old Testament. Modern, decent Christianity, is really the opposite of Islam as a faith: positivity, love, unity and emotional well being and still allowing a person to question, even God himself. I'd much rather if people need a faith, be part of one that is progressive and keep them open to the idea of becoming an atheist rather than one which completely goes against any questioning of a silly book or deity. And don't give me the Quran burning pastor rubbish - I mean the very good Christians who say things like, "I'll pray for you" when they mean they care for you. This is what makes certain religions a virtue. Islam is not, even per se it is not.

There's all sorts of shit in the Old Testament, but the Christianity I was brought up with (and strangely never believed in) was all about the New Testament. Love thy neighbour, turn the other cheek, prodigal son, that sort of stuff. All good.

The Old Testament was like a kind of Grimm's fairy tales, full of excellent, gruesome stories, but not really what it was all about.
  • Re: Describe Islam in One Sentence

lol @ Jinn- Personally I'm not convinced by Christianity either-I just mean to say that I can understand why a Muslim, living in somewhere like Saudi Arabia or Taliban Afghanistan for example, would be more attracted to modern Christianity than Islam. Especially if it was a woman in both these examples. Ayaan Hirsi Ali says something similar to this effect-right before she proudly asserts she's an atheist!

@High Octane-yes I mean the New Testament version of Christianity-ie talks more about love and forgiveness than the Old Testament. And those decent Christians (not the Republican Tea Party fundie types) who genuinely believe in the whole 'love your enemy' thing and pray for Muslims. Ok they pray for them to be Christians, but it's still the idea of them genuinely wishing them well. I saw a doc ages ago where the vicar said to his congregation 'it's Ramadan time, let's pray for our Muslim brothers and sisters' and I thought actually that was really nice.
