    If even one child can be saved, we should all be registered donors. Really, that's the least we can do and requires the least effort - no effort, since you're dead anyway. From death, life.

    Just to play devil's advocate (and to ask convenience questions which I'm sure there are answers to):
    - what if your liver goes to someone who's abused their body over someone who hasn't?
    - what if your organ goes to someone you don't approve of, e.g. a mastermind criminal
    - what if you are prolonging someone who's just not fit for life and is costing more money in the long run?

    On the other hand - I think we should all not only be donors, but pass our biomass for further scientific investigation. Example:

    I've registered for organ donation a few months ago but I still haven't gotten a card  Huh?

    I think my mum would throw a wobbler if she found out... she goes loopy over anything she doesn't understand. I think it's the 'desi melodramatic parent syndrome'.

    However as an ex-JW, my next big milestone is to donate blood. I'm really looking forward to that  Smiley

    None of these arguments are very compelling, really.

    All manner of people abuse their body. Good people, bad people, average people. People also grow out of bad habits. Addicts turn turn their life around. There is always a chance a person can change even without a massive life changing operation. I have done. And who knows, the gift of a second chance at life might even inspire them to change if they wouldn't have otherwise. But anyway, who doesn't abuse their body a little bit?

    And no amount of money is more valuable than a life. That's a no-brainer.

    On a related note. I think I read there are drugs the NHS doesn't buy to save one live of a similar characteristic when they can save hundreds more of similar people. I don't have exact details - but I think money can be placed on lives. It's horrible to think there is more market value on one person more than another ... but I think there is ....

    I don't see how that's placing more value on one person's life than another  Huh? It's just putting more value on a greater number of lives as compared with a lesser number.

    The article wasn't a good example.

    If a doctor has two patients needing blood - one a criminal (highly unlikely to change) and an important (say a biologist who's on the verge of finding a cure of a major source of cancer) ... who has more value?

    I think lives are valued so low they are given life sentences or worse death penalties (not that I agree with that - just pointing it out here). Should someone on death row get a liver over an average teenager with his/her life ahead of his/herself and likely to follow in their parent's footsteps as a decent citizen?

    I suppose this isn't really a (heated) discussion to dive into ... best to choose (flame) wars wisely.

Extremely wealthy folk travel in private jets, giving privet jets to the poor is not going to make them wealthy.
