The Stark choice facing voters in May: if Westeros was WestminsterA lot has happened over the past five years in British politics. And in the same time, a lot has happened in the past four series of Game of Thrones. But ahead of this year's General Election, how would UK politics look in Westeros – or Westerminster if you will? Follow us on this magical who's who…
The Lannisters – Obviously the ToriesAs the saying goes, the Tories always pay their debts – well, in this case the deficit, but there's a bit of trouble inside the party. There are grumblings about the leadership and potential successors, but at the end of the day, they're still the most powerful house in Westerminster. It's all theirs to lose…
The Targaryens – LabourEd Miliband: Mother of Dragons, freer of slaves. KHALEESI! Ok, maybe not… but Ed was exiled from the Kingdom and wants to work his way back in. He's the main challenge on the horizon for the Tories, but has his own problems to deal with. His territories (Scotland) are under threat, his dragons (his party) have been unruly, and the voters are unsure about his leadership. Can he overcome this and take back the Iron Throne?
The Starks – Liberal DemocratsThe Lib Dems made a deal with the Tories, but it hasn't worked out too well for them. Members of their house are still around Westerminster causing trouble, but they're at risk of losing a lot of their influence if they don't get it together, and soon.
The Dragonstone Baratheons - UKIPThey don't currently have the biggest kingdom, or the most support, but they're a big threat to the establishment. It's a metaphor, see. Melisandre, like UKIP, claims to represent something different to what we're used to in Westerminster. Do you believe her message?
House Tyrell – The GreensThe Tyrell's are a bit quiet at the moment, but they're definitely up to something. They're also from The Reach, which is supposed to be a beautiful land of flowers and it's great for farming and The Greens are all *thumbs up emoji* about the environment.
The Wildlings – SNPThe threat from beyond the (Hadrian's) Wall! We left the last series with the Wildlings planning their conquest of the north. Will they win this series? Will the SNP do as well as some people expect in the election? Time will tell, but winter is deffo coming. Still sad about Ygritte's demise (RIP)? Honour her memory and register to vote.
The Freys – Plaid CymruDefinitely not running out of ideas at this point, but the Freys have that toll bridge, and you have to pay a toll to get over the Severn Bridge… yeah.
There might not be dragons in our Westerminster, and the weather's not always as good as in Kings Landing, but there's still lots to get excited about and it's all to play for.
You have until the 20th of April to register to vote.
Before you go off to register to vote it's only fitting to leave you with wise words from the master of whisperer's, Lord Varys…
