There have been a number of questions and discussions regarding the username-change policies on the forum. The Mods have been discussing the issue for a while, and we're posting the rules here for future reference. Many of these points have been mentioned by various mods in various threads. Most of this should not come as a surprise to members. The only new rule is that username change requests will no longer be accepted via PM, but only via the private forum.
Username changesPolicies effective immediately
-When signing up for the forum as a member, make sure you select a username you can be comfortable with for a long time.
-A maximum of
ONE username change can be requested in any twelve month period.
-Exceptions: ONE additional username change per 12 month period may be made for members whose current username has been targeted by stalkers or whose personal safety or privacy is at stake. Exceptions will be considered by the moderating team on a case by case basis.
-Username change requests will
no longer be handled through Private Messages sent to mods/admins.
-To make a request for a username change, the
member must start a new thread in the Private Feedback Forum.
-Usernames can not include racist, sexist, homophobic or other terms of bigotry, or attacks on other members. The determination of whether a username fits those criteria will be up to the discretion of the moderating team.
