My sisters asked me whether i was going to fast and i said no, they started to laugh in a nervous state of disbelief, but when i told them i was being serious, they protested and said i should, at this point i highlighted the fact that i no longer pray and all that jazz, so why should i starve myself (man i love food!), but i dunno there's to much shit going on at home with my dad and my mother feels at her wits' end with him, so to avert any other sort of problems i might just pretend to fast, but yeah this is fucking insane, it's a causal acceptance of self malnutrition.

Being not an ex-Muslim I have a question.
The Ramadan should start when the new moon can be spotted. Now, it is easy to reckon when that will be. Next New moon will be on July 30th at 18.40 Universal Time. It is also known how much time you will need before you actually see the new moon. I don't know how much, but astronomists will know.
I ask myself why Muslims all over the world don't start Ramadan on the same day, when it can be calculated that easily?

pfff I am thinking about this crap for some time now.. I dont have to pretend praying -which I havent been doing for many years except with some "exceptionally awesome" relatives on some rare occasions, ahah they never ask why the hell I always have abdoo (not sure how it is spelled but you got it i am sure) lol,  as for taraweeh I openly dont perform it again for years. I am planning to take off some vacation to avoid the fucking Ramadan at least for a week or something...

Oh yes, Islam is the religion of peace, nothing is forced upon you unless you disobey! Peace of my arse , oh yeaahh!

From what i understand it boils down to a few reaons, one reason is just genuine jurisprudence difference in terms of what country should be followed or whether they should take Makkah as the reference point,

then you have political reaons being veiled as jurisprudene reaons, so one Mosque for example would not follow another Mosque if they didn't suck their sheikh's cock,

but what is more ridiculous than this is that generally the new moon has to be sighted by the naked eye, so even if they know by scientific verification that the moon is out but yet its overcast and thus unable to see the new moon, they can't declare ramadhan has started... Others might want to correct me on this, even when i was a Muslim i found this incredibly tedious and couldn't be bothered to research it.

So, in England, it would be possible to skip Ramadan when it is cloudy all month?

lol no, but wouldn't that be amazing? How it works is that either you sight the new moon or wait until 30 dyas have passed, so for example people will go out on the 28th night and see if the new moon is out, but even if it is established that the bleeding new moon is out, yet are unable to see it they will revert to starting ramadhan on the 30th, i think...?
